  • What's likely to happen if M wins the BT Tournament?
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I think they'd either rise up to a 2-seed or be the top 3-seed.

        • The Freep has MSU losing to Wisconsin in the Semis, Michigan beating Purdue with Michigan beating Wisconsin in the finals to win the tournament.

          • Winning the tournament should put them back in 2-seed category, but all this is just anybody's best guess. Not clear to me that Gonzaga deserves a 2 seed. Very skeptical they put us in a region with Kentucky AND Duke.

            • I can't imagine Michigan being the tourney champion of probably the toughest conference in the country, 29-5, and not getting a 2 seed.

For sure. Last year we went into the tourney hoping to win enough to get a seed higher than 8, and ended up a 3. Obviously it depends on what the current potential 2 seeds do, but somebody in that top-8 group is going to lose a game, and as long as it's not Virginia or probably Duke we've got a good argument against any team that loses this week. Gonzaga hasn't played anybody and just lost to an inferior team, so recency bias. We destroyed UNC h-to-h. One of Tennessee or Kentucky will lose.

That said, I personally care less about a 2 or 3, and care more about whose region we're in. I'd rather be the top 3 than the weakest 2, on the assumption that that may get you in the bracket with the weaker 1, or locations closer to home, or not playing top seeds within 100 miles of their own location, etc. etc.

                          • Get a thread, you two. I suggest the Sparty, OSU or SEC threads are ideally suited for these types of posts.
