  • Illini only chance is to win B1G tourney which means they have no chance...

Langford injury hurts Sparty and helps Purdue & Michigan, Nebraska isn't as good as they were hyped. As deep as the B1G is, there isn't any room for error and Indiana/Nebraska probably slide to the NIT.

    • Purdue's done playing the other conference elite. They could take the regular season easily.

      • Purdue is playing better than we are, 1 loss to Sparty since mid December while M's offense has regressed in B1G play. Against Rutgers M had the bench play just 20 minutes. Every time Teske leaves the game, the opposition takes advantage. M's shooting has been far too streaky, I'm almost at the point with Matthews I'd like to see Livers start at the 3. But his defense is too valuable and you guarantee his leaving at the end of the year.

        • I'd lay $$$ that Indiana will make it. They've had a brutal schedule and were banged up at the same time.

The shooting at Brez wont duplicated, but they stay healthy, they're in.

I think the truth isn't that Michigan's offense regressed in conference -- I think it's that it just showed up bigtime against Nova, UNC and Purdue, and Iggy wasn't scouted well yet. Michigan's offense is what it is. A few times a year it will bomb the doors off, and they've probably all already happened save for that one tournament game in which they do it. Also, Iggy's a shit passer. We had one beautiful possession last night that was a reminder that a beautiful offense means everybody has to be able to pass and see the opportunities.

Which is why Matthews is the starter, period. He's destroying wings on D and that's a huge part of the D. If you hang your hat on D you do it in part by playing your best defenders.

            • I'd love to see one of our other Freshman just become a guy that can get 6 points a game down the stretch. We really could use some bench scoring other than Livers. It might be time to give DeJulius more of a look.

              • Yeah. I didn't realize how bad Brooks' 3-point numbers are. I thought he was going to come around into a decent backup, but it hasn't happened. I don't at all get what his game is supposed to be. DeJulius has a heck of handle, and can shoot. You could do worse.

                • DeJulius gives up an easy bucket or two every time he's on the floor, Austin Davis does the same thing when in for Teske...

Didn't like Brooks' game as a recruit and he's about the player I expected. Bench is only 1 man deep till someone steps up, love to see a reserve wing and a guy who can allow Teske to rest without hurting the team.

                  • Well DeJulius I think has played one minute of meaningful time. You're definitely going to lose something, but you could see if there are gains to be had. Is not too late. May be too late for Johns to settle in.

                    • Johns will be giving at least something by year's end.

                      • I'm hoping the same on John's, he's shown more than Austin Davis and expect to see his role expand. DeJulius seems lost on both ends so were stuck with Eli Brooks as the 7th/8th man.

                        • Why is our strategy in this game not to foul the fuck out of Ethan Happ and make him shoot free throws?

                          Comment

                          • because this team is really only 6 deep before I start to get uncomfortable with players.

Teske + Matthews playing like a God today.

                              • That's the first M basketball game I have watched this season. Matthews is a great player and loved the way Teske got after rebounds. You guys should make a deep run.
