    • Hanni's got it -- the problems go beyond scheme. But this isn't something OSU's going to replicate year after year. With Haskins and the WRs they had Don Brown kryptonite. They didn't last year or the year before. I don't know what choice Day would make given a statue passer or a runner with an iffy arm. We'll see what happens there in the years to come, but as long as Brown's here and refuses to really consider the big questions about his defense, it'll be prone to that fast horizonal attack.

But there's no doubt in my mind Brown's going to put a ton of effort into the gameplan this year. What's questionable is whther it's going to be a good gameplan.

Hanni's thing tho -- that's interesting. Coaches who put out tough teams in this rivalry tend to talk about the rivalry a lot. Put Hoke in that category. It's possible that JH may need to make a less-tangible change than having the right gameplan.

      • Ryan Day prefers Dwayne Haskins-types.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
        Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

        • This is kind of the offensive scheme you were going to get with Jim Harbaugh. That was the selling point, pro style offense with a brusing defense. That was going to sell potential NFL QBs to flock to Ann Arbor, in the meantime the NFL offenses have changed to a more college style system. The biggest problem with Harbaugh's offense is the lack of that stud pocket passer. He adjusted with Patterson this year and it kind of worked, but I'm sure if you had a Haskins taking snaps the offense looks much better.

Dunno about that. Haskins slings it; Harbaugh just wants to hand it off as much as possible. Patterson was the better QB for this offense. Which is not a better offense.

I don't agree about pocket passer either. Harbaugh was a pioneer in bringing college to the pros in terms of offensive style. It's not quite that black/white.

What was the division of responsibility between him and Wilson? It looked to me like a very Wilsonian approach.

                      • Michigan fans need to realize Urban Meyer is the 2nd best CFB coach, arguably ever.

When the Micheal Jordan or Lebron James of college football decides to retire you rejoice and take advantage of it.

I have no problem with swinging the pendulum back to Michigan side of this rivalry.

The excuses are gone now for Harbaugh

                        • Would have been good to at least get one or two wins on him, but, overall, yeah. Of course.

Harbaugh outlasted Meyer. He never has to apologize for this. If haters try to come at you saying Harbaugh never beat Meyer - remember that Meyer did not have the cojones or physical strength to last a 10 year war. He quit at 4 years - perhaps seeing that ultimately going 4-6 would literally kill him. Harbaugh has integrity and the advantage of not having his health being destroyed by a guilty conscience resulting from repetitive public lies. Harbaugh outlasted Meyer, Meyer didn't have what it takes to have a 10 year war. Meyer has a legacy of lies, deceit, corruption and winning at all costs. I am thinking and hoping that Harbaugh will have a different legacy when all is said and done...
