The report said, “Asiasi is in the early process of seeking a transfer to attend school on the back on his native West Coast.”
The reasoning behind Asiasi’s decision to prefer a transfer is unknown, except for the fact that he wants to go to the West Coast.
In four games last season, the 6-foot-3, 285-pound tight end caught two passes for 18 yards and a touchdown.
From De La Salle High School (CA), Asiasi committed to Michigan’s 2016 class on National Signing Day. Asiasi and his teammate, Boss Tagaloa, were expected to be a package deal, so it was surprising when Tagaloa picked UCLA and Asiasi picked the Maize and Blue.
If Asiasi does leave the program, Michigan will turn to Ian Bunting and Tyrone Wheatley Jr. The Wolverines will also lean on Sean McKeon and Nick Eubanks.
Asiasi was our best blocker, and he had to be accounted for as a pass threat. And Bunting has shown no aptitude for blocking. We should take any of the three OL transfers available. With what we have, at the very worst they're 6th OL and competition to push the younger guys.
His parents tried hard to get him to stay on the west coast during the recruiting process. They've probably been in his ear about his responsibility to his family and shit like that since he's been in AA. Guilt is a powerful weapon.
Losing Asiasi will definitely suck, but I don't think it will hurt us next season as much as msu losing John Reschke. RCMB "reports" the rumor that he was voted off the team.

I'll let you ban hate speech when you let me define hate speech.
Freddy Canteen graduates in May and will transfer to ND for his 5th year and grad studies (mgoblog).
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
M will be fine if the TE's around him are good. Loss of Newsome, a position of weakness and where we lacked depth, absolutely killed us last season and will again this season.
Per mgoblog. Asiasi is officially gone. Good thing it's not a position of need. He's going to be a great one wherever he ends up. I'll be surprised if he's not in the NFL before his eligibility is up.

Newsome making progress
It is unclear when Michigan sophomore left tackle Grant Newsome, who suffered a season-ending leg injury during the Wisconsin game last fall, might be able to play again, but Harbaugh is certain that will happen.
Newsome spent 38 days in the hospital after the injury.
“He’s working out every day,” Harbaugh said. “He’s getting around good. He’s making strides. He’s tough as a $2 steak and doing it with an incredible attitude. Do not count him out.”
Harbaugh said he’s “optimistic” Newsome will return to the field.
“He’ll play,” Harbaugh said, adding he’s not certain when but at some point Newsome will return.
