I think Harbaugh was right to come down hard on refs. From what I saw, the refs favored the Bucks, and that was the difference in the game. The PI discrepancies were crystal clear, and that was the difference in OT. Also, the spot was questionable, as Barrett had the ball behind him when he was blasted at the first down line.

Yes, the turnovers hurt. But M overcame those and deserved another chance after the PI in the 2nd OT. Conley was holding Perry's right arm and that prevented the catch and first down conversion. Crystal clear on replay.

Of course, the refs can always miss one or two calls, but all 3 or 4 missed calls that I saw went to the Bucks. Plus, a penalty for throwing paper and headsets on the sideline? And the ref justifies that by invoking basketball?

I'm not blaming the Buckeyese. They did what they're supposed to do and played hard.

But the game was decided by the referees. Praise to Harbaugh for pointing out the poor officating which decided the game.

    • I don't give a damn about the fucking spot. I care about the no call holding that allowed him to get the first down, or the three holds/block in the backs on the play previous to that, that allowed Samuel to turn a big loss into a near first down. I also care about the three or four pass interferences that all went in the Buckeyes favor.

      • Hoke wouldn't have blamed the refs, but he would have been wrong. Like it or not, officiating is a big part of the game, and the coach has to fight for his team.

I've watched that play a couple of times, and I don't see the blocks in the back and the holding. That was playground football, and Samuel was fantastic.

But I agree that the pass interference calls / non-calls were egregious. To be fair, there were only a couple each way. But they they both went to the Buckeyes. Refs decided the game.

And of course the spot really did decide the game. Michigan gets the spot, Michigan gets the V. Given the crappy video, replay couldn't have overturned it either way. Given the previously demonstrated bias (or blindness) of the refs, it's likely they blew that call too.

          • Two of blocks in the back and holds are blatant and directly affected the play for Samuel.

            • At any rate, I think we can all agree that it was a very even game, and that we should congratulate the Bucks on a hard fought victory. Life isn't fair sometimes.

College football is a good sport, and referees are human. Who knows why they blew those calls today? Corruption, chance, being out of position or out of shape?

But it won't get fixed if coaches roll over a la Brady Hoke.

                • Corruption?

Ok. Buckeye Paul is on record as thinking the refs threw the game. Could be true. For whatever reason, they made bad calls which decided the game. The PI calls were so blatant that no one is denying the mistakes.

For record, Paul, why do you think it was corruption and not just incompetence? Or do you think they made the right call in not calling PI on that critical 3rd down play by Michigan?

And the spot decided the game.

                  • After watching the replay a couple more times, Michigan stopped Barrett short of the 15 yard line and should have won the game. Barrett was turned around when he was stuffed, with ball behind.

Michigan would have won this game had that play been officiated correctly, in my humble opinion.

Still, it's just a game and could have gone either way. Congrats to Buckeyes!

How dare you call me Buckeye Paul? 😳

Everyone at ESPN/in the media have a hard-on for osu, and the agenda was for them to make the playoffs for a rematch with Bama, come hell or high water.
That coupled with a fear of escaping that shithole alive had they overturned the 4th down stop.

Just my opinion, of course. What's your take on it?

                      • Just watched it again. We would have won if officials had called it correctly. Barrett was at 15, but he was turned backwards and ball was several inches short.

Nothing we can do about it, as replay was not conclusive with apparently inadequate technology.

Anyway, Michigan won, but officials gave game to Buckeyes.

It's just a game, and Buckeyes can't be faulted for being handed a victory.

Still, Harbaugh is right that Michigan would have won with good officiating.

                        Best to all...

                          • There is no doubt he was short of the line to gain. No doubt. The ball hit the blocker in the ass, which was behind the first down line, btw, and never went forward from there. As I said earlier when I saw the guy running in to make the spot, I knew they were fucked. They gave them the first down and there was no way they were going to overturn it.

                            • Too bad there wasn't a better video of the play.

Michigan deserved the win. Bad officiating gave it to Ohio State.

It was a very even game, however. So congratulations to Ohio State for winning a hard fought rivalry game!

                              • Lost in the complaining, Delano Hill (my player of the game for Michigan) and Chris Wormley stuffed that Barrett run and would have won the game in a more just world. Fantastic play by those two.
