It was a big deal because it didn't happen that much. I was looking back at the game where they beat the Yankees to win the NLDS and they flashed a stat about Zumaya and how he had half of the leagues pitches that registered 100 or over. Nowadays, it's pretty common.but that doesn't mean it's easier to hit it.

Clase ran into a tough stretch of batters there with two outs. Sweeney and Rogers have a good knack for grinding out at bats and putting the ball in play and Carpenter is deadly against right handed pitching. They got to him once. I'd advise them to get ahead and avoid him for the rest of the series

Yeah, it's pretty amazing. Clase just hung a slider -- which he ordinarily gets away with -- but on his 3rd one in a row it wasn't good. It's baseball.

The Tigers were much better situated with their bullpen for extras, so it probably wouldn't have mattered. It woulda been a nice game to win because the series is over.

Oh well. I'm not losing a wink of sleep over postseason baseball. Heh. Especially in the divisional round.

    • Tigers ABSOLUTELY needed that win yesterday. Not being able to deliver after they had their best weapon, in Skubal, working to near perfection and getting Barretted in the 8th would have been killers.

That home run had that same feel to me as when Gibson hit that moon shot off Gossage.

                  • Bless you boys. Tigers win again 3-0, and take control of the series at 2-1.

Game 4 tomorrow night at Comerica.

                    Playing on house money.

All I was hoping for was that they'd finish over .500

                    • I heard this yesterday for perspective on what the Tigers are doing: The 1980 Miracle on Ice team was a 6:1 underdog, meaning a $100 bet on the U.S. to beat the Soviets would have paid out $600. In mid August the Tigers were 500:1 to make the playoffs.

                      • From The Athletic today re: Cleveland Baseball Team's offense.

They last touched home plate all the way back in the sixth inning of Game 1, when a gallon of milk cost a nickel.

                        • Lets hope they don't touch it again until milk cost $10 (which honestly could be before 6pm tonight.)

                              • Welp, at least The Roar’s pitching “rotation” will be fucked for ALCS.
