Actually, of those four, only the Pistons totally suck at this point.
Lions were a quarter away from the SB
Tigers are in the thick of the WS race.
Red Wings got within a game of a playoff berth.

As for who can claim to be a real Michigander, .. Seger and Nugent are totally safe. Seger relocated to California for a while, but has since permanently relocated back to Michigan. Kid was raised in Michigan, but I don't think he can claim "detroiter" status. Madonna was born in Bay City, moved to Rochester as a child, and actually attended UM for a while.
Stevie Wonder was born in Saginaw, recorded scads of music for Barry Gordy, but then eventually moved to Hollywood. Not sure where he lives now.
Nobody did music better than Motown back in the 60's and 70's. Other labels did well, but Motown was it in Michigan. We all listened to Motown. white, black, everybody. Barry Gordy was a freaking genius. Smokey Robinson ... geez.. just tons of great music came out of there.
And Darth Vader was educated at Michigan. May he rest in peace.
Twins lost it 13 innings! Your Detroit Tigers can clinch a wildcard berth with a win over the 120 loss White Sox at home tonight! First pitch 6:40.
Mike - Help me with how that works. KC has the same record as the Tigers. What if KC and Detroit finish that way? Are they playing for one spot behind Baltimore, or 2?
They're fighting over two spots. And they're both up 3 games over the Twins and Mariners. So unless they lose all three and the Twins win all three you will be in.
KC holds the tie-breaker so if we finish tied, Detroit will go to Houston as the 6 seed and KC goes to Baltimore as the 5. I don't think there's really any advantage to being 5 or 6. I've gotten over my slight fear of Houston and I'd like to stay away from the Yankees as long as possible.
The Tigers win yesterday eliminated the Mariners. And LOOOOOL Twins. I stayed up and watched that shitfest. My god, I don't think I've ever seen lazier play from professional athletes with their season on the line.
