Skubal will obviously win Cy Young, but Clase has been stupid good. I’m not sure a closer will ever win another Cy Young in the advanced stats era, but there isn’t anyone remotely close to him in the AL.
Guardos bullpen is why that team is inexplicably gonna get a bye.
If the Tigers get into the playoffs a matchup with Cleveland would be the true battle of the bullpens. This miraculous run has been built on 3-4 bullpen days a week. Tyler Holton is the best pitcher in baseball that nobody has heard of, he isn't even the closer but he is probably the second most important pitcher on the staff
Washington screwed us last night. Royals win 1-0 in 10 innings. It looked for a second that the Nationals walked it off in the 10th but a deep drive down the right field line hooked just foul. It would be great to draw the Orioles rather than Houston in the WC series.
So, in AL, Yanks are pretty sure to finish #1 and Guardos are #2. Orioles are very likely to be top wildcard. That means the Central division free-for-all is for the final two spots where you either get Houston then Cleveland or Baltimore then Yankees. In a short series, I think I'd prefer Baltimore because they don't have any killer starters. But, then I'd prefer Cleveland over the Yankees because the Guardos lineup is very capable of a scoring 2 runs in a 3 games.

I definitely would prefer to avoid a team that’s been to 7 straight ALCSs. I assume Skubal has started his last regular season game so I’ll roll him out there against anyone to start a 3 game series. Would love to reach the ALDS and get a home game or two in Detroit.
This last month of Tigers baseball has been a giant gift that seemingly fell from the sky. I almost forgot how much fun meaningful September baseball is.
Putting the cart before the horse, I think there are a few teams that would prefer to avoid the Tigers in a short series with Skubal going in Game 1 (and possibly Game 5).

There is no profit in expecting anything from the Nats. Expect the worst from them. They are the epitome of consistency.

Somewhere in the backroom of auto detail garage, Larry Herndon is smoking a Marlboro Red drinkin' a sixer of Meister Brau and getting ready to send a page to Lance Parrish to talk about that badass Skubal motherfucker.
