Actually, the news came out late last night, so in an odd way, Memorial Day was also an occasion to celebrate the end of his awful reign as an MLB Umpire.

Yeah, he was likely trying to negotiate to keep his job. He was an embarrassment - not only for ownership and the commissioner’s office, but for the umpires’ association. He shoulda been given the hook years ago.
