I’ll be enjoying them young kids on the Guardians. Such a fun team to watch.

The weirdest baseball schedule I can remember—the Guardians close with SIX at HOME against the ROYALS. If they can get to that series in the lead, man, they’re in.

I didn't realize that's how it ended. That IS strange. And none of those are make-ups, that's how the schedule has always been? Bizarre

This made me revisit the 1999 Indians and being pissed again that team didn't do more with the insane lineup it had. 5th most runs scored by any team since 1900 I believe and three teams ahead of them are the Ruth-Gehrig-Dimaggio Yankees.

FIVE of those guys had over a .400 OBP that year! And Omar was just barely below that.

Manny had 165 RBI that season. No one's matched that number since and you have to go back to Jimmie Foxx in 1938 to find a player with more.

I was home on fall break and at a Buckeye game (I forget which?) the same day of Game 3 of the 99 ALDS against Boston. We had won a close Game 1 and then blew them out in Game 2. Beating Boston back then was almost routine, it was the Yankees that were trouble.

Game 3 we took an early lead but then Dave Burba got hurt in the 3rd or 4th. And Hargrove, in his infinite wisdom, chose to insert our Game 4 starter instead of going to the bullpen. It was a shaky pitching staff to begin with but losing Burba turned it into a disaster. I forget the exact number but we gave up well over 10 runs a game in those final 3 games.

Had a lot of great memories at old Tigger Stadium back in the 90's. 2/3 the crowd were wearing Indians shit. Leaving the game we'd walk down those old school ramps, the rickety old place shaking with every step, screaming chants of "Let's Go Tribe!". Sometimes we'd even throw in a "Here we go Brownies!" just to mix it up and make sure everyone understood Cleveland owned this shithole town. The few straggling Tigger fans wearing Bobby Higginson jerseys kept their heads down, tried to avoid eye contact, and escape with a little dignity intact.

Nicknames are similar to uniforms, even if they are hideous, they fade into the background. But Spiders would have been cooler.
