Speaking of the Yankees, if they hold serve, they could go down as one of the best, most complete teams of the last fifty years. They just don’t have a weakness.

The Yankees are currently on pace for a 118-win regular season and we’re almost halfway through July.
Barring injuries and Aaron Boone resting all starters the last month, they have a shot at beating the record of 116 set by the 1906 Cubs and tied later by the 2001 Mariners. The Cubs did it with fewer games played, though.

And don’t get me wrong, we’re a good team. The Dodgers are better, this year. I think we’ll take 1st in the NL East from the Mets, but the Dodgers look better at present. But, to be fair, they looked better at this point in the season last year, too.
