Its driving THRU certain areas before and after that make me a bit nervous. Even in the daytime. Whenever I leave that area and I get on I-96, I set my cruise on 80 and I don't stop for anything until I'm past Brighton.Shut the fuck up Donny!

But in today's world? Sheesh .. people are getting shot just because they LOOK like a cop. Seven Mile is basically a "no go" zone. Don't go there. For anything."in order to lead America you must love America"

The game I went to was over 20 years ago...we had some lunch and beers before the game at Hockeytown and walked over to Comerica for an afternoon game...was a pretty uneventful day until I left to get back to my hotel up in Troy...I got turned around and had to stop and ask for directions and had to pee like a racehorse...was right at dusk...the gas station attendant told me directions...advised me to not pee and delay my exit and to get my cracker ass back on the freeway. I did that and peed into a Snapple bottle on the way back. That was the infamous game I went to with Entropy and MojoSpartan. I'm not sure what was scarier...going to a game with those two meatheads or my exit...Shut the fuck up Donny!

I lived in three different places in Detroit when I was there.
Cathedral Towers (one block south of Warren/Woodward or John R)
MLK Arms (MLK and Second a block east of Cass)
John R Apartments (one block over from Woodward about 3-4 blocks north of Comerica Park)
Can't remember the number of times I would walk up Woodward (by myself) real late at night. There are places you stay out of late at night but that is true in every big city. Downtown Detroit I would say now up to the LCA is fine. Then you have a few blocks of nothing until you reach the DSO/Midtown/ Wayne State Area (I think there is an MSU extension building and maybe a whole foods before you hit the DSO area).
Hell---I am hoping I can swing it next year and afford to go to the NFL Draft in Detroit that would be a blast.2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

In the downtown area of Detroit, especially when any special event is going on,(Fox Theatre, :Little Caesars, Comerica, Ford Field, et al) the cops are out in force. The Ilitch family and the Ford family have told the city that if they want continued big bucks poured into those areas, they better protect the people that come to those venues. So, the Detroit Police do just that. They're visible, and for the most part, I'll agree its fairly safe. Maybe one day I'll get past my unreasonable fears and take in a night event in the area. But, my preference is to go in the daytime.
But the areas surrounding downtown, and some of the routes that fans have to drive thru to get there, can be, and have been very dangerous."in order to lead America you must love America"
