    Not really a hockey fan, but that sport is even more unpredictable.

    The Detroit Red Wings once had the best record in hockey back in the early 1990s, and lost in the first round to the San Jose Sharks, and upsets of teams that had great regular seasons are commonplace in hockey.

      Upsets like that might have been more common in the NHL, but those teams that have the upset rarely go on to win championships. Since baseball expanded the playoffs from 4, it's gotten at least as unpredictable. MLB has had a lot of weird champs over the last 20 seasons.
