      • 15 years ago when the Tigers brought up two flamethrowers that could touch 100 it was a game changer. Now a parade of these guys can hit 100 MPH on cutters. The game was a total bore after the 4th. Banning the shift is a small bandaid to a large wound.

        • The Blue Jays beat the BoSox 28-5. Holy Jobu.

          • Time for a mercy rule. Or, at least an "enough already" rule.

            • Fuck the Red Sox. But fuck the Yankees too. Fuck them all except the glorious Braves....who are now just 1.5 back after beating the Japanese Whiz Kid...

I remember reading a BP entry on Kevin Gausman, in this year's annual, Gausman when he came up with the Orioles was considered a hard thrower----he was consistently around 93 mph.

                    • Well shit. Vin Scully died. One of the best to ever do it.

                      • Vin Scully was one of the last connections to the old original 16-team era of baseball. When he first started broadcasting for the Dodgers, the Browns were still in St. Louis and Braves were in Boston. A national treasure.

                          • No shade on Vin Scully, but Ernie Harwell was absolutely in the top five of all time baseball broadcasters. George Kell was not too far behind.

Yea, that's the Tiger homer in me, but there weren't many who did it better than Ernie and George.

                            • Skip Caray for Braves fans. Mel Allen for Yankees fans. There are a few others. I always had an affinity for Garagiola as a color guy for Curt Gowdy.

                              • Harry Doyle and Monte for Cleveland Guardians fans. Probably the best ever, actually.
