Can't believe it's been 30 years. I still enjoy watching the entire clip. Vin is genious and Garigiola adds to the build up. The complete and total improbability of him even batting let alone the outcome. It was a Saturday. I actually had a HSFB game that day because our dumbfuck rivals played their home games on Saturday nights. We beat them 22-14. I got home for the 9th inning. I was rooting for the A's because I hated all things LA. That should be present tense. YMMV, but it's the greatest postseason HR of all-time.

A mere 17 years ago on this exact date, Scott Brosius stepped to the plate to face Byung-Hun Kim with 2 outs, 1 on and the Yankees down by two. The day before Kim had been asked to close out game 4 with a 2-run lead but allowed Tino Martinez to hit a game-tying 2-out, 2-run dong that eventually led to a Derek Jeter home run just past midnight and, hence, his "Mr. November" tag. Improbably, history repeats itself less than 24 hours later and the Yankees win the most improbable back-to-back games in WS history. Tragically, the greatest reliever in baseball history would get touched up with broken bat shit in Game 7 and then a legit rip from Tony fucking Womack. But, for now, enjoy this moment from November 1, 2001:

And, btw, there was no better baseball environment than post-season at old Yankee Stadium. Not even historic and beautiful Fulton County Stadium.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
