Agree that SMU is in and Bama is out.
Worst case scenario happened for Bama last night.
That said, I kind of want to see Bama make it. It would create the most chaos and make conference championship games meaningless. Like why wouldn’t a team like SMU skip the conference championship game in the future? Also, I would be more entertained and interested in watching a game like Bama @ ND instead of SMU @ ND. Selfish entertainment reason. Bama playing in December 21st weather at South Bend.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

I think Bama is more deserving.
2-loss SMU with a 60 SOS lost to a flawed Clemson team last night. The Mustangs haven’t beaten a top 25 team this year. Vs a 3-loss Bama team that is 3-1 vs Top 25 and has a top 10 SOR.
But it’s not about putting the best team in and Bama will be left out (and it’s our own fault).
Yeah, SMU is a fraud, but they’re not the only fraud in the CFP. Indiana, ASU, and Clemson join them with that designation."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

I think conference championship games are eventually going to be done away with. Especially if the playoff field gets expanded.
There's no benefit to playing a CCG when it means that one playoff potential team is going to come away with a loss, while other playoff bound teams will sit at home, but protect their record.
Case in point: Penn State. They were ranked 3rd in the country until last night when they lost the CCG. It was #1 vs #3. That matchup shouldn't have happened until the playoff semi-finals, at earliest.
Meanwhile, a highly talented team like Ohio State sat at home, and will likely now host a first round game against an inferior opponent. Its up to them to meet the challenge, absolutely. But they're likely going to play at home, while its now possible that Penn State will have to play on the road.
There's no advantage to playing in the CCG unless you win. And teams that don't play a CCG at all have an advantage over a team that DOES play in a CCG, but loses."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

I’ve said it for years. In an extremely limited playoff, there should be no auto-bids. You put the best teams in.
We have playoff spots for only 9% of the teams. Just no place for auto-bids with a selection sample that small.
That said, for every team left out, there is a solid reason why. There is no crying in a pageant with this few entrants."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

No more auto-bids.
And I know that CCG's are a huge money maker for the conferences, but either the CCG results should not be allowed to affect playoff seedings, or the CCG's should be eliminated completely."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

They won’t do away with the CCGs because the conferences want them for the money. So, we’re stuck with this unfortunately sewn together Frankenstein’s monster. They will try to fix it by adding more and more teams to the playoff. 16 soon and ultimately 24."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

Anyway, as I’ve said all along, leaving us out is the only choice they have. Same with Miami, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and a few others.
Bama’s only path in was a win by Iowa State or SMU. Can’t depend on either of those teams. And if you are depending on them, then you didn’t deserve it anyway."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

-Texas will destroy Clemson and then beat ASU.
-Penn State will beat SMU and Boise.
-Ohio State will beat Tennessee and Oregon in the rematch.
-ND will kill Indiana and lose to Georgia
