  • Watch out for the walk to the stadium, where you have to walk down a street that is a gauntlet of frat houses, that absolutely abuse every visiting fan they see.

I walk through campus at Baton Rouge. I guarantee you nothing short of flashing a wad of cash and a Rolex in some dimly lighted alley in Mogadishu comes close.

Universally, asshole college fan rankings is 1.LSU…….(huge gap)…..2. Morgantown, WVa, and then everyone else.

I’ve heard that. I’ve been to a Bama game there. They treated me fine.

            • The nicest fans are at Ole Miss (and I hate to say it, Nebraska).

At Ole Miss, visiting the Grove (a wooded quad where they tailgate), if they see you walking through with opposing team gameday gear on, they call you over and give you whiskey/beer/food, offer you a seat in front of the TV, and want to talk football.

Nebraska fans stand and applaud the opposing teams. They congratulate you when you win, too (or used to).

What happened with you? Is it that Kearney background?

                      • Seconded.

                        I'm an asshole here...yes...but in real life...well...I'm a prick.

Nevermind. Not sure where I was going with that.

                        • I can't comment on Baton Rouge, but Morgantown is awful. Penn State fans aren't great, but my experience there was fine, but they do hate OSU. That said, most places you can navigate w/o issue. Even Morgantown. But, there's a big difference between being able to wander around freely and enjoy the camaraderie of CFB and planning safe routes to the stadium.

Wisconsin is generally an outstanding drinking state full of nice people. I'd highly recommend Sheboygan and Milwaukee, and the Johnsonville Sausage Festival in Johnsonville (not even a crossroads) is so outstanding I went two years in a row. BUT, I think Madison leans a little more to the "be aware of your surroundings" as opposed to "free wander."

                          • There are some groups of LSU fans (usually about a dozen people) that will pick out a lone opposing fan or two and follow them. Blocking their way, yelling profanities, and occasionally throwing things at the person/couple trying to goad the guy or both guys onto a fight if they can lure/corral them off the main streets. When this happens, the dozen LSU fans all jump in and fight, then strip the clothes off the visiting fans leaving them without tickets, wallet, phone, or clothes. In the stadium, many will try to trip you going up or down the stadium steps, they block aisles, refuse to move, “accidentally” knock your tray of food/drinks outta your hands, you get the gist.

Their big in stadium chant is something they call “Neck” - it’s basically fans chanting, “SUCK THAT TIGER DICK, BITCH!”

Cars with out of state tags keyed, tires slashed, windows broken. Many campus bars and restaurants won’t take your order, you get the idea.

                            • They are by far the worst. Alabama fans go in groups of 8 or 10 around campus (the cowards leave you alone if you have sufficient numbers).

It’s really the epitome of a humid hell. It smells like a combo of body odor, Drakkar Noir, and hot dog water. It’s the absolute worst.

                              • I’ve never been to a game at Morgantown, but I have been in ATL when Bama faced the Mountaineers in an early season kickoff game several years ago. They were drunk, belligerent, overall wearing red necks that were a bit subdued because they were outnumbered, but I can easily see how they’d be bad at home.
