The two bell cows of the BigTen have bad OOC scheds as well as most of the SEC. No profit in doing more. Literal or figurative as far as the CFP is concerned. The conference schedule is out of our control. Nick has asked for 9 games for a decade. Bama can’t help if the Mississippi schools and Georgia vote it down, so I won’t worry about it until those teams are shamed into voting for it.

Yeah, even if we had Oregon State or some shit as a P5 opponent, it doesn’t really matter. Most teams will play one legit OOC opponent every other year or so. Especially with conferences consolidating.
Next year the Big Ten will have Michigan, OSU, PSU, Nebraska, USC, UCLA, and to a lesser extent, Wisconsin and Iowa.
The SEC will have Alabama, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and to a lesser extent, Auburn and Ole Miss.
Why on earth would teams in those conferences seek out home and homes with other A-list programs when you can pad the bottom line with a home game against a poverty program?Comment

A soft OOC schedule is a no brainer in CFB's emerging consolidation and post season. It's fun to mock these soft schedules. Anyone with a brain dismisses that talk.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off.
