I’ll give you Bama’s problems in a nutshell:
Offense: (1) Our O-Line has not been coached up. They are getting overwhelmed, manhandled, not controlling the line of scrimmage - which makes QB protection and running lanes way more problematic. (2) A lack of a star, game-changing wide receiver being developed. Great talent in both units. Now, you can blame the position coaches of those units (and I do), but our problems don’t stop there. (3) We have the most predictable, unimaginative, stale, stubborn playcalling in major college ball. Even a casual fan watching the game knows what play Bama is about to run when they see the set we line up in. Those three items combined lead you to the OC. What’s funny is, if you read accounts of other jobs Bill O’Brien has been fired from, you see the same issues I listed above as the reason for his firing.
Defense: (1) Whorehouse Pete Gelding is out of his element. The former Delta State benchwarmer turned assistant is trying hard but this defense’s hallmark is way more passive than the defenses of previous DCs and when you play man coverage but dont get pressure on the opposing QB, you get eaten up. (2) He also inexplicably refuses to cover a running QB - and in the SEC, well that happens. A lot.
So, we need to make some assistant coaching changes Will we? God, I hope so. but Saban is stubbornly loyal to his assistants. The funny thing is Bill O’Brien is a bigger issue than Whorehouse Pete Gelding. Pete is trying. Bill doesn’t give a shit. He’s there to do the bare minimum and cash a check.

And like I said before, our milestones are still too recent to succumb to some overreaction and make a drastic move.
-10 months ago, we played in the CFP championship game.
-11 months ago, we won the SEC.
-22 months ago, we won our last national championship.
But recent history aside, a couple of personnel changes are needed.

You can start by naming Whorehouse Golding Head Ball Coach In Waiting. I mean, did anyone else see the UAT stand to save the game yesterday? Genius.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

How long is The Nick going to last? He is looking old on the sideline and more testy than ever. How big of a down tick will there be when they transition to Dabo?
I think other teams are looking at Alabama right now and are thinking that they are vulnerable.

CGVT,
Yeah, I don’t see it that way at all. Other teams smell blood in the water because of the issues I noted above - not because he’s some “prize fight in his twilight”. lol.
But anytime, and I mean ANYTIME, Bama underperforms national sportswriters (and fans, of course) have laid wreaths on Saban and wrote “THE DYNASTY IS OVER” pieces. It’s happened numerous times over the past 12 years or so.
I saw it in 2010, the loss to Ole Miss in 2015, 2019, and now this year.
Nick Saban and the Tide are behind the 8-ball early in the season again. The bigger problem? This doesn't look like a typical Alabama team.

I believe Saban is 71 years old, but if we all look that good at 71, we'll be in good shape.
I don't think his age has anything to do with anything. If he needs to shuffle his staff a bit, I'm sure he'll be able to find people who'd love to work with him."in order to lead America you must love America"

Anyway, we’re looking at a 10-2 regular season and a shot a NY6 bowl. Failing that, the Citrus. A good season for the vast majority of teams, but abject failure for Alabama. On another note, the worst thing that can happen at Auburn is for them to somehow win out under Cadillac Williams and make them think that they should hire him. They are not a good team but are playing purely on emotion right now.
It may carry them through the season, but that Rah-rah shit will get old real fast when they start losing games.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
