  • The funny thing about Wheaton is that it totally fucks over OU fans. The OU 247 board is inusfferably stupid, led by one sunshine-blowing insider. Basically, every top recruit wanted to go to OU because of Caleb Williams -- the "Caleb Williams Effect". It was hilarious to read his pieces re Emeka Egbuka (who was an OSU borderline lock for over a year). He didn't say Egbuka would commit to OU, but he did say if Egbuka ever was able to make a visit that he WOULD. Well, he visited. And committed to OSU 5 days later. (He was also massively wrong when OSU flipped Jantzen Dunn from OU).

Camar Wheaton was considered an OU lock. Heh. Not so much. Everyone thought Tristan Leigh was an OU lock. Heh. I'd be surprised.

    F Oklahoma.

    • Yeah, we’ve picked off a couple of OU Crystal Balls the last few years. It’s kinda funny.

The kid said it was between Bama and OU. He’s said that for a while now and said he would decide on December 23. But most of the “experts” still had him as an OU lock. I knew when Crystal Balls from Wiltfong and Hank South started saying Bama it was done.

      • As a related aside, Treyveon Henderson is, IMO, considerably underrated. The dude is a legit badass, top 10 player. Much needed after RB misses the past two years. I think CRD is on the right path to fielding a team that won't get annhilated by UAT when (if) they play their series in a few years.

        • Going full circle, former OU running Back Trey Sermon is quite the beast THIS year. And according to some on the OU board was paid to xfer to TOSUC.

          • Trey Sermon has had one good game. He has more burst and better vision than Master Teague, but most good RBs do.

When Trey Sermon left Norman, the consensus amongst their fans was that he couldn't get on the field and that they just have better RBs. I'm not sure why 300+ yards against a nFw defense daring Ohio State to run the goddamn ball would transform that assessment into "we'd love to still have Sermon but OSU bought him." Then again, looking for a rational basis for CFB message board opinions and Okie thoughts in general is the ultimate fool's errand. Speaking of which....

            • I have also read today that Nick Saban is scared of Lincoln Riley that’s why we stole Camar this year and Jase McClellan last year.

Speaking of Jase, as a true freshman this year at Bama, he had 23 rushes for 245 yards (10.7avg) and 2 TDs. Yes, small sample size, and yes he broke a long run to up that average.

              • Unrelated, I've been playing the Scotch a bit on-line and against Computers. It's every bit as crude and unrefined as its namesake.

                • The Scotch Game and Scotch Gambit are very solid with a lot of traps and tricks. Especially effective against aggressive opponents. Both Kasparov and Magnus have some informative games as white with the Scotch. Also look for a GM named Parimarjan Negi.

                  • As white, if my opponent answers e5 to my e4, about 95% of the time, I play d4 as my 3rd move.

                      • In tournaments as an e4 player above a 1800 ELO, nearly 100% of your opponents who answer e5, are absolutely PRAYING for a Ruy. These fucksticks have memorized 40 moves deep in the Berlin Defense (and probably the Arkhangelsk Variation, as well) and are begging to get into some technical memorization slog to get an endgame advantage. The Scotch paints their wagon a completely different color.

                          • The Ruy Lopez players are the worst. I love to see their happy little faces when I play 1.e4, which builds after 2.Nf6, and compare it to their frown and utter disappointment when I play 3.d4. It’s glorious.
