  • Five and Avenue are easily walkable from the Embassy Suites. Although, remnants of Hurricane Delta will make walking a bit messy.

...and there are several locations of Dreamland. There are a couple in Bham. The original location on Jug Factory Rd is different, better, though.

But you won’t go wrong with Five or Avenue. There is an Italian place called DePalma’s. Decent calzones. It’s hit or miss, though.

    • Tuscaloosa has some of the best Mexican this side of Vera Cruz. Be sure to get the white sauce on whatever you order.

      • Bham, or La Jamon Abeja, is the Mexican Food Mecca you are thinking about. And white sauce is a bbq chicken condiment

          • White sauce is just coleslaw dressing. I'll pass.

            • There is a white cheese sauce served in better Mexican restaurants that is warmed up and poured over things like chimichangas and some types of burritos. I think it has ground up jalapenos in it.

The white BBQ sauce from Bama is a totally different item, made from different ingredients.

Well, coleslaw dressing with horseradish and cayenne. I’m not a fan either, though.

                  • God, I miss CFB.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

It is basically coleslaw dressing without any sugar. Mayo and vinegar and as AA says, some horseradish and a bit of heat. I make it once in a while. It is good on grilled chicken every now and then. When it comes to BBQ sauce, I like sweet tomato based sauces better, but white sauce is a nice occasional change of pace

                              • Texas is trying for the miracle comeback against Oklahoma. 2 mins and change to go, and down by a TD.

Oklahoma is not a good team, but their OL has totally dominated the Texas defensive front.
