  • The Big12 is supposedly meeting tonight if no one mentioned that
I imagine they kinda sink or swim on what the state of Texas wants and how bad they think the outbreak is still going to be in 3 weeks.

      • That sounds a little ominous to me.

        • Make no mistake, I believe if another conference drops out, we will, too.

          • Wouldn't surprise me if a few SEC Presidents would secretly like to cancel right now but need cover to do so. Thinking Florida, Georgia, maybe Vanderbilt. Prob same goes for some ACC teams.

The Big12 will probably revolve around UT

              • Of course they are. There is no real reason not to.

                • Agreed, but I never trust university presidents with decisions like these (see: BigTen; August, 2020).

                  • And the amazing thing, that I can’t let go of, is that it was literally only a few days since they had just released their fall schedule.

                    • They’re governing by worst case scenario. No one wants to preside over a covid death. Even if it is 30 out of a million. There’s still a chance!

The B12 is teetering from what I’ve heard. If they go then it’s hard to see ACC/SEC pushing forward.

Yeah, I'd still really like to know what shook them between the schedule coming together and now.

                        • The other thing about the various conferences pussying out is that they are establishing a “reasonable standard of care” in terms of negligence. Should something happen and the remaining schools get sued, then they’ll have a difficult time arguing that they didn’t consciously disregard a known risk or that their actions weren’t unreasonable.

I think with the B10/P12 out it makes it harder for the other 3 to play. I hope they do, but if I had to bet I’d bet on CYA and irrational fear.

                          • Supposedly the BigXII has a vote and have elected to keep going. At least for now. The three no votes were surprisingly Kansas, TCU, and Oklahoma. That’s the scuttlebutt, anyway.

                            • No one is canceling immediately. They’re all going to wait and see. Which is the minimum the B10 should done. But, they’re idiots.
