  • The Nick has another monster class. I think Coach Ryan Day can hang on and finish #2.

    • No one is passing Day. We will be happy with the also-ran if we can hold onto these kids.

      • Hogwash. Doubt The Nick at your own peril.

Coach Ryan Day is doing well enough to hopefully paper over his coaching deficiencies. It’s my only hope.

          • You laugh, but Coach Ryan Day is not jousting the likes of Gus Malzahn. He's going up against HARBAUGH!!!! It looks like HARBAUGH!!!! will max out at 4 top 100 kids (if they snag Spindler from ND). Coach Ryan Day will probably end up with somewhere around 14 (caveat, based on current rankings). He's going to NEED that type of disparity to survive.

The Nick could win the SEC with Vanderbilt recruits (caveat, unless a winged unicorn from Ohio flies to Baton Rouge). That's the difference.

            • Bama lost to LSU AND Auburn last year and had a thin 21-16 lead WELL into the 4th quarter vs Michigan. This Bama team is flawed. We will have to hope (if there is a season) that PickSix Jones can placehold until Bryce is ready.

              • Auburn’s recruiting has been slow this year. Hope it holds:

Current 247 composite national rank/avg. score:

                2. Bama/94.18
                4. Tennessee/89.91
                5. LSU (Damn)/93.46
                10. Florida/89.40
                16. Georgia (will rise, only 10 recruits)/93.94
                20. TAMU (12 recruits)/89.96
                23. Mizzou/86.60
                29. Arkansas/86.82
                32. Auburn (only 10 recruits)/90.43
                34. SoCar/86.15

                If we assume...

                86-87 = decent
                88-89 = good
                90-91 = very good
                92-93 = great
                94-up = monster

....Then the SEC has more parity than I care for.

                    • It's not worth doing at this point in time. For example, at the end of the day, Georgia is going to be top 5 for sure and Auburn will be way higher.

Going off the top of my head:

Ohio State 94+ (they may actually push 95 with 25 recruits and a KICKER!)

                      Michigan 89.5 (I don't think they'll get above 90)

                      Penn State 88s (probably)

                      Maryland, Wisconsin, Iowa (87s)

                      Minnesota, Nebraska (86-87)

No one else is worth mentioning. Obviously, there's Ohio State and everyone else. In terms of average value, the gulf between 1st and 2nd is bigger than 2nd and 14th and will finish that way (IMO). That's fairly staggering -- Illinois/Rutgers are closer to M than M is to Coach Ryan Day.

M is probably a clear 2nd, but it's not by a huge amount. Coach Locklsey is doing a nice job. Anything after M (at least for this year) is going into a huge blog of mediocrity.

So, I think Coach Ryan Day will deal himself a hand that he can win 9 games with. Needs a few more aces to get to 10 or 11.
