The score ended up about where it should have been. Alabama was a solid 10-2 team, and could have been 13-0 with less injuries and a couple plays in their favor against LSU.
Michigan went into the game at 9-3, but was actually was a 8-4 team, if Army would have had an experienced kicker.
So, it was yet another instance where Michigan was unevenly matched up with a bowl opponent who was far better than them. The score should be no surprise to anyone, and if Saban decided to tack a meaningless TD on at the end, what's the big deal? Harbaugh probably would have done the same to him. I certainly would have.
Saban left MSU because he couldn't compete in recruiting with Michigan, Notre Dame and OSU. He was never better than 4th in that pecking order, and he knew there was nothing he could do to change that. I suppose that's where some of his anger against Michigan and the Big Ten has its roots.
So, off he went to LSU where he was the big man in the state in recruiting, and nobody could touch him. I probably would have done the same thing, given that opportunity. His NFL dalliance netted him a big zero, so he retreated to the waiting arms of Alabama, and the rest is history. He made career moves that made sense to him, and made him a living legend.
Someday, he will be on the receiving end of that situation. He can deal with it in his own way when that happens."in order to lead America you must love America"

His Harbaugh rivalry has more to do with some shade JH has thrown his way.
He left MSU because LSU is a much better job.
His NFL record was better than most realize with where Miami was when he took the team, especially. WH was trying to give him an extension.
