Lost starting LB Josh McMillon earlier a few weeks ago, now we lose Dylan Moses, our all-SEC signal caller mike LB, for the year with an acl.
We will have two true freshman starting as LBers. Kids who were dreaming about what girl to take to senior prom this time last year.
We have an issue with losing LBers in fall camp every year. Are we going at them too hard? Is their S&C deficient in some way? Just ongoing bad luck?
Bah.

Make-up? I don't know what you mean. Will we still win? Well, sure. We're Ala-Fucking-Bama. But these are huge losses and not having them out there could flip a W to a L in a close game. Specifically: TAMU, LSU, MSU, Auburn, Georgia, and provided we win those, the CFP.- McMillon was a senior and starter. He was "only" a 4-star out of HS, but had a great skillset. Didn't get lost, smart player.
- Dylan was a junior. 5-star. 2nd-team all-american, Butkus finalist. He was the QB of the D. The one who gets players in alignment, calls or changes the D based on what the O shows.

But I get Froot's point. Bama has guys on the 3 deep that would start at most other schools. That's the way Saban has built his CFB machine.
There are some similarities with M here. DC Don Brown lost a shit ton of 2018 talent (Bush, Gary, Winovich) and Devin Bush was that guy who ran the D. From an experience level, M has a leg-up but from a talent level, M's D is going to drop off.
Similarly, M has an offense, albeit unproven but with a damn good QB and set of WRs and TEs working behind the best OL Harbaugh has fielded that can probably keep up if the D falters. That's a new capability for JH's snail paced offenses of the last 4 years. Tua is elite and most are saying Alabama's O will be improved and it was already pretty good. I'd expect more shootouts against the opponents you mention. The Tide will be fine.
So ..........Suck it up and STFU. May Lord Saban and his charges suffer the ignominy of multiple embarrassing big plays causing tight ass-holes, suffering and a gnashing of teeth of the utterly despicable fan base of which you claim undying allegiance.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

- Yes. Bama has talent.
- Yes, there are players on the bench who could start at most of the G5 and some of the P5 schools.
- I am not saying we now go 7-5 and play in the Liberty Bowl. What I am saying is this, easily, can make the difference between 15-0/14-1 vs 13-2/11-3
- Replacing Moses and McMillon with two true frosh is huge and very likely flips a close W to a close L.
- We aren't looking to go to a nice bowl and have a "good" season. Anything less than the CFP is an abject failure. Hell, we went 14-1 last year, only losing in the championship game and I kinda view it as a so-so year.

We will have problems with one or more of the following: TAMU, LSU, Auburn, Miss State, Georgia.
With Dylan Moses and Josh McMillon, I like our chances vs Clemson. At the very least 50-50. Without them 20-80."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

As to your second point, "first word problems."
Therefore, STFU........ or inject some more humor instead of sound reasoning and facts into your hand-wringing.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Boy?
I am not hand-wringing or sandbagging. I am stating facts. We'll beat Dook (or should) 50-20 or 44-24 or something in that area and everyone will keep us at #2 as long as we continue to win.
Starting these two freshmen over what both would be first round draft picks in a few months has greatly increased our chances of dropping a game in the regular season and made beating Georgia in the SECCG and Clemson and the other teams in the CFP much more problematic.
We will still be very good. But being champions is now much, much harder.
