    • I'm reading that only eligible Ole Miss seniors can transfer as a result of NCAA sanctions. Shea Patterson is a Junior. The rules are complicated but ESPN seemingly figured them out and posted this - I don't have the link.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Come to think of it, I am sure that's right. You can actively recruit the seniors though and you don't need permission.

          • Apparently Ole Miss has 23 seniors that can be directly recruited now.

            • Ole Miss plans to "vigorously" appeal the extra bowl ban and the immediate release of its seniors.

              • Welp, that should work then. I though they were just going to regularly appeal.

                Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

                • I was expecting a lackadaisical appeal, myself.

Back when I was on the crime beat, I really wanted to ask the public-information officer, just once, if the detectives were ever going to conduct a less-than-thorough investigation this time. But that would have sent her into a fit of stuttering and she probably would have taken her revenge by leaking something to the competition.

I read that it was only the seniors. That could be significant if it's not.

The "total schollies number" is extremely misleading. It's a four year removal of six spots. That doesn't mean 24 fewer athletes. It means six fewer for four years, which is worse than zero but you're just talking about the next recruiting class being 22 instead of 28, or whatever it was otherwise going to be. Or it's six more kids that get "processed". Every class after that gets to be the same as what it otherwise would have been. The first year of the bowl ban kept Ole Miss out of a 6-6 bowl and the second will likely do the same.

At any rate, if I'm an Ole Miss fan, I'll gladly take the New Years Six win and the back-to-back victories over Saban if the punishment just means that we are going to the same shitty bowl games that we would otherwise go to in the first place.

                          • I'm trying to think of a comparative overachieving analogy for UM. Would it be back-to-back B1G championship seasons with one national championship? If you told me that I could have that, but the price that I'd have to pay for that was a couple of 8-4 years later on, I'd take that trade sooo fucking fast (and that hypothetical scenario assumes that we'd get caught, which is less than likely).
