After watching the Alabama/LSU game, it looks to me that Alabama is on an entirely different level than the rest of college football. You could argue that if LSU had a first rate QB, the game may have been different, but I don't think so. The Alabama defense is just too good and the opposing teams' defenses can't handle the pressure that is placed on them. By the end of the game, the Bama offense takes advantage of a worn out defense and ices games with long, back breaking drives.
They would beat Michigan by at least two TDs. At least.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

Uggh. I may have drank too much in celebratory revelry lasy night.
WB: I wasn't looking for a fight. My intended point was that as far as preferred items in a skill set for my ideal of a coach, polished interviewee is way, way down.
Paul, I don't tolerate trolls or idiots very well, but I usually don't go for the low-hanging fruit of a 'mom joke' - no matter how trollish or idiotic of a person I am replying to. Should have put you on ignore long ago..
Talent: fuck off. No particular reason. Just fuck off!Last edited by AlabamAlum; November 6, 2016, 10:56 AM."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

Alabama's D did play well, but our O did not. And while we pitched a shutout against a one-dimensional offense, look at the points/yards that Ole Miss and Arkansas produced with a decent passing attack. No, we have a very good D. But a very average offense. Balanced offensive teams with an aggressive defense will have success."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

LSU had the game plan and the athletes to execute it on defense last night and are as physically talented as any team in the nation and they couldn't get it done, even with Alabama tuning the ball over twice.
Bama is that good.
Auburn has a good defense and a better offense than LSU, but I suspect we'll see more of the same in the Iron Bowl. A close first three quarters and then Alabama imposes its will. The SEC championship game will be a joke and Alabama will cruise to the title.
BTW, They need to give Coach O the job in LSU.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

The sandbag label is a joke. Anytime I find any fault with Bama, I am charged with sandbagging. So, anytime someone doesn't overtly pump sunshine for their team, I call them on sandbagging. Sauce for the goose, as it were.
Anyway, I think you're right in that Auburn has as good of a D and a better offense. That game scares me. I'm taking an Auburn friend with me. It's a ritual. I get obe of his tix in J-H, he gets one of mine in B-D. He talks shit after a win and I think I will end up in jail if we lose."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

Sure it can. it starts with hiring the right scouting service and having at least a couple of great recruiters on staff and circling recruiting as a top priority of the HC."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

My son goes to Auburn but is not a football fan. He was at the LSU/Auburn game though and had a great time, maybe there is hope for him yet. We go to a game every year on parents weekend and watch Auburn beat up on the Little Sisters of the Poor or what ever creampuff they have scheduled for that weekend. It's a lot of fun. The game day experience, even when playing a patsy is chill inducing and college towns are always fun on game day.
I am aware of the sandbagging joke, although in your case it is true. ;)
You may be able to find fault in Bama. Could their offense be better? Surely, but it doesn't need to be because they are already better than everybody elseI feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

I don't think being a great recruiter can be taught. It is a personality and charisma thing. You can be taught the ins and outs and inspired to work harder at it, but it is like leadership, either you have it or you don't.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

Yeah, we will have to disagree on this. Saban does not have a warm personality or magnetic charisma. He is awkward, stiff, gruff, and often matter-of-fact. He has talked before of how he started changing things, recruiting-wise, while at Michigan State. How he would call Jimmy Johnson and a few others or visit with him in the off season, and how he learned to make recruiting his first job. He has missed trips to the White House to recruit. He has won a national championship and flew from the bowl game to start back recruiting. He hasn't always. He learned to, though."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

He may be awkward and gruff, but the kids love him, the parents love him. They loved him at MSU, LSU and now Alabama. He learned to work harder at it, but he has "something" that draws people to him. You can't teach that.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

No magic personality thing. Taught or not. It's hard work. You out work everyone else you succeed.
Not that complicated.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
