Please support the Forum by using the Amazon Link this Holiday Season
Amazon has started their Black Friday sales and there are some great deals to be had! As you shop this holiday season, please consider using the forum's Amazon.com link (listed in the menu as "Amazon Link") to add items to your cart and purchase them. The forum gets a small commission from every item sold.
Additionally, the forum gets a "bounty" for various offers at Amazon.com. For instance, if you sign up for a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, the forum will earn $3. Same if you buy a Prime membership for someone else as a gift! Trying out or purchasing an Audible membership will earn the forum a few bucks. And creating an Amazon Business account will send a $15 commission our way.
If you have an Amazon Echo, you need a free trial of Amazon Music!! We will earn $3 and it's free to you!
Your personal information is completely private, I only get a list of items that were ordered/shipped via the link, no names or locations or anything. This does not cost you anything extra and it helps offset the operating costs of this forum, which include our hosting fees and the yearly registration and licensing fees.
Stay safe and well and thank you for your participation in the Forum and for your support!! --Deborah

I think they'll have someone w/in 48 hours and I think it'll be Lanning.
I don't think UAT just learned of The Nick's retirement.
I think Sarkisian is probably the guy they wanted, and that was in place to happen, but once he got the Texas job you can't really turn that down. Especially in the new world of unrestricted NIL.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

With The Nick leaving, that re-opens UAT's transfer window for 30 days. They need someone in place almost immediately to fend off the vultures. And window doesn't open until it's announced. So, based on purely on rational decision-making analysis, The Nick had to inform UAT awhile ago, gave them a headstart, they have whittled things down and there shouldn't be much of purgatory gap.
That's the only way to do it. And if I've learned anything over the past 20 years, it's that UAT is ruthlessly rational in decision-making that best serves the interests of its football program.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

BTW, have they fired him yet?I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on

I glanced at a Vegas odds list for the next Alabama head coach. Pat Shurmur and Derek Dooley are near the top. WTF?! 😂
Yeah, Dan Lanning is leading the charge at this moment. We shall see if that comes true…

Vrabel, I don't think he wants to coach CFB. And I do know the Pats job is now open.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

A nail in the coffin with the Tweet from Dan Lanning himself below…
Sark was also mentioned as a candidate. Well. Quinn Ewers just announced that he is staying a Texas. One would think that Ewers asked Sark if he’s staying before announcing the news … so eliminate Sark from the list.

I'll be surprised if Vrabel goes anywhere BUT the Patriots. That path was cleared today when Belichick left the room. And he'd be a great choice for them. Stupid move by Tennessee. Even Michigan alum Taylor Lewan said it was a dumb move, and he loved playing for Vrabel.
I'll take Lanning at his word for now, but if the next Bama coach does a face plant, I think he'd likely be at the top of the list for Plan B.
Here's a name that hasn't come up yet: Kyle Whittingham. Tough nosed guy, a bit on the older side, but has made a tough football team out of the Utes. Recruits well to a tough team to recruit for. Just a name I thought I'd throw out there.
Lane Kiffen must be kicking himself today. He really wanted to be Nick's successor.
Dabo's name keeps coming up, but I agree there's problems with him.
I think DeBoer is solid at UDub.... and that's not good for the B1G.
Any 'surprise' names out there?"in order to lead America you must love America"
