    Anyhoo.

You do not stay in Lexington when you go to a Kentucky game. The hotels are booked up by locals years in advance. You stay an hour-15 away in L’ville - which has available hotels and a decent nightlife.

Likewise, I usually stay in Charleston when visiting SoCar, NOLA when visiting LSU, Little Rock when visiting Arkie, Gatlinburg when visiting Tennessee, and Panama City Beach when going to Florida.

        DSL,

-LSU has beaten Bama twice this past decade. Their ranking had nothing to do with those two wins. I’ve talked about LSU’s culture for 25 years that we’ve posted together.

-TAMU has beaten Alabama once this past decade. I posted on their horseshit multiple times before.

-Auburn is 3-7 vs Bama. Their biggest issue is isolation and Montgomery. I think you’ve heard me wax poetic about Montgomery before?

-Georgia has beaten Alabama once this past decade.

-Florida’s last win vs Bama was 2008.

-Tennessee has won once since 2007.

(the above is from memory, so check behind if you wish).

          2. Vandy. Nashville is a fun city and the Vandy fans usually don’t show up until the 2nd quarter and leave at halftime.
          3. Mississippi State. Good bunch, the cowbells are annoying though and Starkville’s “best” restaurant is the Applebee’s off Hwy 82.
          4. Arkansas. Very hard to get to, but FayetteNam isn’t a bad town and the fans are fairly cool.
          5. Kentucky. A good group of fans, Louisville is a fun city.
          6. Alabama. We would be higher, but we have a bit of an elitist “you’ll never beat us” attitude. We are also notorious for giving opposing fans wrong directions to fuck with them (send them away from the stadium, to the wrong gate, whatever).
          7. SoCar. Columbia and Charleston are pretty fun. Fans are okay.
          8. Mizzou. Not an SEC environ, but good fans.
          9. Tennessee. The visiting seats are 8-inches wide and they have porta-potties in the stadium. Redeeming quality: close to the Smokies.
          10. Florida. Tally is a pit of despair. The stadium is okay and the fans are average.
          11. Georgia. Bad fans, bad venue, with horrible sight lines. Fuck Kirby.
          11. Auburn. Hard to get to and get away from. Town is too small and the closest city is Montgomery.
          13. TAMU. Horrible fans with all male cheerleaders and a faux military Corps of Cadets. They also do a lot of petty gamesmanship toward the visiting team. Disable the locker room AC, have the mounted “soldiers’” horses shit on the visiting sidelines, etc.
          14. LSU. See my previous posts.
I went to the App State/TAMU game last year. Once you get past the cult aspect of the student body, the fans seemed to be pretty gracious and easy to get along with even when they got beat.

Now, that may be different for a league game, but I had a pretty positive experience there.

            • My main thing with TAMU is their gamesmanship with the visiting teams. The goofy hand signals and cheers with the Good Humor crowd is easy to ignore.

But we’ve had to truck in our own ACs for the locker room for years (they magically break before the game - every year since Kevin Sumlin was coach). The horseshit on the visitor’s sideline is new, though.

              • The AC thing started with Sumlin. Saban was tipped off by the coach who played the Aggies the week before, so he bought $100,000 in portable ACs and brought them in. We have every game there since. Sumlin was fired, but they kept his tradition.

                • I’m sure we will have UA student volunteers with shovels and pails to clean the horseshit up off the sideline this year.

When Michigan goes to Columbus, there is always a "water main break" where the water to Michigan's hotel is shut off, so they can 'repair the problem'. It happens every two years, just like clockwork. Some of this has to do with Ohioans referring to Michigan as "skunkbears" .. (they smell, .. they stink, .. etc., so why would they need water?). Real Ohio knee-slapping humor there...

I believe Michigan started bringing its own bottled water, and when Schembechler was AD he threatened to not pay the hotel bill if it happened again.

                            • Ohio State picked up a good recruit. Tavien St. Clair will be a very good D1 QB. I know Saban wanted him badly. When we couldn’t get him, we went after Sayin hard (and he’s committed and will be fine).
