  • I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the shooting in Tuscaloosa. Were the shots fired from MIller's car?

How can a person that provided the weapon used in a murder and was on scene when the murder occured not be culpable in some way?

    Jesus. What a fucking mess.

I'm with you. Miller brought the gun, which belongs to Miles, to the scene of the crime. Miles gave the gun to Davis (the shooter) in the backseat of Miller's car. I don't know where Miller was at this time. Maybe the car was parked on the street and he had left. This detail is unclear.

So Mile's, who did not fire the weapon, is being held without bail on capitol murder charges for either giving the gun to Davis or telling him where it was located in Miller's car (I've read both versions). Meantime, Miller, who brought the gun to the scene at Miles' request and very likely was present when the shooting went down, was playing basketball two nights later and the DA says they can't find anything to charge him with.

Not disputing the DA's claim but there seems to be little difference in the actions of Miller and Miles but one is facing life in prison and the other is walking around scot-free.

I remember when a couple of Bobby Bowden's players did something and the star was not disciplined the same as the scrub.

A reporter questioned Bowden saying that he had said one time that all players were treated equally.

Bowden laughed and said that he said that, but some players were more equal than others.

I can see that to an extent when it comes to stealing a pair of shoes, but man, this is murder, not some kids will be kids incident.

            • Oats talking about ``what Ray Lewis has been through" kind of reads like he assumes people are pretty stupid and will buy anything you sell them no matter what. Which is probably accurate, but most people just aren't cynical enough to act on the knowledge.

Here’s the difference according to a lawyer on TV here:

Miles and Davis (who did the shooting and was shot in return) were involved in the altercation and Miller and the others apparently weren’t according to the DA. The analogy he used was if you and I rob a bank but only you have the gun, but we both go in and and rob it, we are both still charged with armed robbery - even though only one had the gun. Others are not charged as accessories unless they were in the bank or knew of the impending robbery.

Is that correct? Hell, I don’t know, IANAL, but I have hired several lawyers for hospitals and I’ve watch 2 seasons of Suits, so I think I’m pretty qualified.

It should be easy to get to the bottom of it, because Miller’s car apparently had a dash cam!

Quite the movie of the week.
