  • Do you really believe that we pay attention to what is going on with Maryland "Terrapin" football?

      • Okay, maybe one week per year. Tua's little brother played there. That's about all I know.

                • Anyway, it was a smart move by Dippre. Reports are our celebrated young TE, Cameron Latu, will declare for the NFL after the bowl which will leave a gaping hole for TE on the roster.

Latu holds the school record for TDs by a TE - which is pretty amazing considering that our TEs include Ozzie Newsome, Howard Cross, Irv Smith Jr, OJ Howard, Michael Williams, and a few others of note.

                    • Pretty savvy transfer for a 3-star TE who wasn’t even in the top 85 of Tight Ends in his senior year of HS. He was recruited by the likes of Maryland, Syracuse, Virginia, and wouldn’t even have gotten a look from Alabama or Ohio State then. Played a couple of years and goes to a national team needing a TE. Just a smart move.

                      • With his xfer, Alabama will move up to about 59th in Portal rankings.

No one, and I mean NO ONE, will catch Florida State and Michigan in Portal rankings. Both the Noles and Wolverines have picked up five 4-star players and a couple of 3-stars so far from the Portal.

                          • The funny thing to me about the Maryland kid is that there are complete morons out there who believe Alabama and Ohio State got into a huge NIL bidding war for a 3-star, middle-of-the-road Maryland TE who entered the Portal back in November. I mean, he fills a need at Alabama, but this isn’t a bluechipper. It’s one of those you go, “Okay good. We can probably use him.” This isn’t an Arch Manning or Bryce Young deal. Hell, it’s not even a Jameson Williams kinda get. But internet gonna internet.

lol. We live in crazy times.

                            • Yeah, there's pretty much no heartbreatk on OSU forums over this. James Wilson to Georgia? Yeah, that sucked. Some Maryland TE I don't even remember (and they scored a fuckton on OSU)? Meh.

                              • Yeah. No doubt. And while he can help fill out the TE room at Bama, he will be the lowest rated player in that room. And we also recruited a TE in this class. 4-star, 6’5” Ty Lockwood. A top 13 nationally ranked TE.
