  • I just saw the Samford Florida score and I figured it was just an unremarkable basketball score. Then I saw "42 points in first half most allowed in program history for Gators". And I was like -- "whoa, what? That was a football game?"

    Wow

    • Could be a crazy number of high profile programs with job openings this year if Florida & Texas both decide to cut their losses. Would be something if all 4 of the big Cal schools had coaching changes too.

      • IMHO Florida should stick with Mullen but he needs to hire better recruiters.

        • TBF, I think Florida has been having Covid problems within the team. They've been missing large numbers of players for the last 3 weeks.

          • Florida is another program where the job sounds better than it is in practice. The side effect of the continuing conference consolidation is a lot of programs that were previous powers become also rans that might have a a great year once a decade.

            • THAT shoe throw changed everything… one of the games of the year in 2020. LSU vs Florida.

Texas (future $EC school) is definitely sticking with Sark, barring off the field drama. No question it’s been a disappointing season for Texas. They do have an excellent recruiting class coming in.
People forget that Sark had a poor reputation a few years ago when he was fired from the Atlanta Falcons. That changed during his OC time at Bama as Sark brilliantly called plays for 5 star players.

              • Mullen is okay. I thought it was a lukewarm hire. The Florida job is more a testimony to how important it is to select a great coach, which is easier said than done. When they did do that, however, with Urban and Spurrier, they excelled and were a power. They were never a real power, traditional or otherwise, in the rest of their 120 years of existence.

The shoe throwing was a symptom of the disease. Mullen has always had a laissez faire style of instilling discipline. He was the same at Mississippi State as he is now at Florida. I think he is much better suited to manage adults in the NFL as opposed to 18-22-year-olds living away from mom and dad for the the first time in college.

Yep, and when you have a great hire you need everyone on the same page in the background. That means not antagonizing the coach.

                    • Auburn QB, Bo Nix, broke his ankle at the end of the game with Mississippi State Saturday. LSU xfer, TJ Finley, will take over starting duties.

Hate he is hurt. He’s a good kid despite his questionable choice in colleges.

                      • As far as what it means for the Iron Bowl, I think TJ is more of a problem for Bama. Finley is 6’7” 247 and an effective dual threat.

                        • Also, Talent, Jameson Williams tracked at 23 mph on a play at practice. In a game, his fastest top speed tracked was 22.3 mph. For perspective, the fastest top speed during a play in the NFL this year was Jonathan Taylor with the Colts at 22.05.

At Bama he has 51 receptions for 1,028 yards (20.2 avg) with 10 TDs and his catch to target ratio is excellent. John Metchie has more receptions but is much less dynamic. If Jameson’s routes can get just a bit more crisp, he will be a 1st round pick. I assume that’s what made him WR3 at Ohio State?

                          • A decent recruiter can fall out of bed and have a Top 10 recruiting class at Florida. Same goes for Texas. Both of those programs have big time underachieved for the past decade.

                            • JaMo is great, man. But he didn't want to wait another year to show out. He wasn't and isn't better than Garret Wilson or Chris Olave. And I'm not sure he'd clearly beat out JSN for the slot. He needed to be the go-to guy or close to it and ramp up his NFL value THIS year. I have nothing bad to say about JaMo at all. Nothing. Kid can really play and everyone knew he was a total burner.

So, what made hime WR3 more than anything is that Wilson and Olave are really fucking good and two definite first round picks and I'd bet a fair amount that JSN will end up being a first rounder. So, I mean, it was a stacked roster. It's one of those things where OSU was so good in that group that fans can actually wish him well in his endeavors at UAT knowing full well he's a stud.

                              • Garret Wilson, in particular, is a badass. Thank you Texas for running a shambolic program and sending an Austin kid north. Olave, at this point in the season, may be their 3rd best WR.
