  • Vols lose, but a forfeit was warranted.

    • Shocking and disgraceful. Vols are the lowest.

        • Vol fans didn’t like a late call (that honestly looked correct) so they caused a 30-minute stoppage while they threw shit at Ole Miss players.

              • From the reply I saw it didn't look like the most controversial call either. I'm surprised they let it go on that long without just calling a forfeit.

                • They were throwing tallboy beers, half-full Dasani waters bottles, and Kiffin was hit/grazed with a golf ball of all things. The white hat considered forfeit, but did not think he had the authority. SEC Commish Sankey says he will address that this week. The UT Chancellor has apologized to his Ole Miss counterpart.

You know, it wouldn’t be excused, but it would have been understandable if Ole Miss had been taunting the fans. They weren’t. The Hilljacks were just upset at a good call that went against them.

                  • Judging by that replay, it took way too long for security and officers to go up there and start yanking and arresting people.

                    • There is no doubt, froot. It was as a breakdown in Neyland security, officiating autonomy, and Vol fan mental health.

                      • Not too many good games next week. A number have byes. The only 2 games of note: LSU at Ole Miss and Tennessee at Alabama.

                        • Just watched the replay of the end of that game. Embarrassing. Reminds me of the 2005 Nebraska-Colorado game in Boulder when the game had to be suspended for 25 minutes and an entire section of CU students cleared out by security. Fans were pissed not about the refs...but the fact that their beloved Buffs...North Division champs...were getting clobbered 30-3 by Bill Callahan...and began throwing full water bottles and batteries at the Nebraska sideline. Officials do have the power to call a game in such situations where the safety of players, coaches and fans are in immediate danger. Had the game been out of reach they probably would have but the Vals had 3 timeouts and a enough time to win...and to punish the Val team over a bunch of hilljack moron fans would have been a travesty.

Hopefully many of the culprits are identified on video and dealt with.
                          Shut the fuck up Donny!

                          • The Vol message boards are generally excusing the behavior because, you know, refs, and such.

                            • Its good that Milton got stopped at the end there. If Tennessee wins, Mississippi would have had a lot of reason to protest the result. It's hard to get back out there after 25 minutes of getting pummeled by junk. The fans nonsense almost worked. You certainly don't want to penalize the team for the fans behavior, but forfeiting the rest of the game would have had a much better deterrent than whatever sanctions happen after the fact.

The crazy thing about it is, like you said, the spot itself was far from the worst call I’ve ever seen and in fact I’m more inclined to think they got it right.
