I don't know what East German firm designed the heaping pile of poo, but even by 1970s Dresden standards, it's an eyesore with all the charm of a concrete dildo.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

It’s one of the best stadiums greater than 100,000 capacity. I mean, sure it could be the asymmetrical piece of goo that is the Horseshit, er, horseshoe. And we could stick pot leaves on our helmets for learning to dress ourselves without help and whatever, but nah. We’re good. It’s a Rembrandt and the Shoe is “Dogs Playing Poker”.
And, Mike, that is a sun rise. A new Dawn, a new day. With Alabama still on top.

The Horseshoe is also symmetrical. And remains a towering monument to mankind's architectural prowess. Honestly, probably the most impressive stadium in human history with the Roman Colleseum running a close second.
I will concede that at least UAT's depressing East German monolith isn't a giant hole in the ground.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

As the story goes, the dude who designed the bulk of Cornell's campus got a call from UAT. He flew down Tuscaloosa, took a look and said, "so, you want a stadium?" He jotted it down on cocktail napkin in 10 minutes and here we are. So, when Dr. Strangelove rushes to the defense of UAT Stadium in his typical haughty preening way, you'll know why.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Well, we started with 29,000 a bunch of decades ago. To get to 100k+, you either had to start over or add-on. But it’s absolutely a great venue. One of the best fields in the game and great sight lines. Wouldn’t trade it."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

And I love that they didn’t connect the upper bowl all the way around. They didn’t by design to allow airflow. And with some 100+F early season games in the Deep South, it is absolutely essential."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln
