  • Michigan going to he SEC would be worse than all the stupidity of Tom Goss and Dave Brandon combined. OSU would be fine. They'd compete well. FSU would fare about as well as Michigan.

    • Yup, Texas, Oklahoma, Clemson, Florida state, Ohio state and Michigan joining the SEC... Being announced later today, possibly football only.

        • I don't hate it if these "super teams" actually play each other in the regular season.

Would you rather watch Alabama vs Oklahoma in week 4 of the regular season

True. One thing the B10 had going for them was that they were first-rate academic institutions. Taking that as a way of deciding on future entrants, the best two would ND and Virginia. I'm not completely sure Virginia wouldn't want to be in the B10 since they are second fiddle to Duke/UNC in basketball and routinely get crushed by Clemson.

I read an article yesterday that said that Kansas would be the best "get" for the B10. I don't see that at all. Their football is not only bad, but it is historically bad.

B10 should go get Vanderbilt and Missouri and call it a day. They bring in St. Louis and Nashville as TV markets. Let's not take mediocre teams from the B12.

              • Sounds like Texas/OU is pretty much a done deal unless there's political interference. The timing is the only question. They may try and buyout the Big12 contract or may wait till the middle of the decade.

Seen rumors that Kansas Oklahoma State, and Iowa State have all made calls to the Big10. Dunno how reliable any of that is.

                • Oklahoma and Texas have officially applied to join the SEC this morning, They propose 2025 as their starting date, but it's hard to imagine them playing 4 more seasons in the Big12

                  • On ESPN yesterday, there was talk that since the SEC is doing this to not be surprised if the Big Ten and Pac 12 join to make a national conference, along with a handful of what's left of the Big XII. This was brought up when the idea came up for the SEC and ACC to form an alliance.

The conferences we have today will be gone within the next 2-3 years.

I have no problem with super conferences. I just wish they'd go the rest of the way and have college football at that level leave the NCAA completely.

                    • lot of money OU and TX are giving up

Lot of meney the remaining 8 teams have to gain by keeping the big 12 together

I wouldnt be jumping ship yet if I were any of the remaining big 12 schools

esepecially if OU and TX stand pat til 2024/25

lot can happen that may change their minds about bolting

                          • And 8 team conferences can't get into the playoffs. They have to have at least 10 teams AND have a conference championship game, under today's rules. Of course this could change with the stroke of a pen.

I think when the dust settles on all this, there will be (as someone else suggested) four - 16 team conferences based on regions. And those teams would be wise to leave the NCAA in football. It should become a league affiliated with colleges, but funded by corporate sponsors and the NFL. CFB at that level is a minor league development system for the NFL anyway, so why not make it official?

Its no longer about sitting in Johnny RocketArm's living room and telling his parents that Johnny is going to get a quality education. Its going to be about Johnny going to the school/team that can get him the most $$ while he's IN school. If he goes to class at all.

"Coach Harbaugh, .. can you guarantee Johnny that he will make $1.Mil a year in endorsements while he's attending school?"

                            • NCAA...dead. which is good...but...

                              CFB...never be the same.

                              12 team playoff...probably end up being 16.

Conferences...dead...they will be more like strategic alliances born to make mega millions.

Bowl games...dead. not all bad but I will miss the nostalgia of the Rose, Orange, Cotton and Sugar.

There will be a new "NCAA" to not so much be a watchdog but rather a board of directors to orchestrate the aforementioned mega millions.

The CFB playoff money will make the Basketball Tourney look like chump change.

There will end up bring an NBA like G league for football.

CFB over last 50 years while imperfect...I loved. Like no other sport on earth. It's over. Probably been over for 10 years or so. But it's really over now.

Like it or not...get ready folks.

                              • Michigan is no threat to win championships under any scenario so fuck it.
