  • I think this is probably the place to put this, since we live in the heart of SEC country and it would get buried if I posted it in the Misc thread...

My son Jack is a senior in high school. His basketball team won the semi-final game and is headed to the State Championship Wednesday. He had some struggles during the season and wasn't getting very many minutes, but he has stepped up and has been a solid contributor during their playoff run. He is the first guy off the bench and is getting some significant minutes He played most of the game yesterday and probably played better than he ever has. He made some big plays. When he made this steal there were about 30 seconds left in the game and his team was up by one point. It was a huge play. SF went on to hit 4 free throws and shut down Scottsboro to win by 4. He got some love from the state-wide news outlet, AL.com. He is happy and excited and we as parents are proud and relieved that he is not wasting away on the bench. One more game against perennial basketball power Mountain Brook and can come home with the hardware. Spanish Fort is a bit of an upstart an will be underdogs for sure, but they are a very good team and have a real shot at the 'chip

      • The SEC has led the way in rejecting foolishness from various PH authorities when it comes to college sports.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

        • At the rate we're going with vaccinations, there is no logical or practical reason for things not to return to normal by fall. The only roadblocks will be the inherent irrationality of humans and petty politics.

            Agreed.

And if any Alabamians are nervous about seeing their team play in their stadium, in person, they can sell their ticket to someone else.

This 100%. There is going to be a lot of inertia and the CoronaKarens at places like mgoblog will insist that we all stay away from each other for the rest of our lives.

                • Bama beats Auburn. 20-6 on the year. SEC champs. Make-up game vs UGA this Saturday since we both missed TAMU.

                        • I’ve been told those of us that’ve had it might as well wait 90 days at minimum to get the vaccine. Pretty much the same as what you’ve heard? I prob won’t become eligible anyways until after that

                          • Dunno if I ever mentioned this but the entire time I had it, there was only one day under normal circumstances that I felt bad enough that I would’ve called off sick. I was extremely nauseous for almost 24 hours but it went away as fast as it came on.

                            • I got my 1st shot 104 days after testing positive. They actually counted it out.

That said, it’s not a mandate, it’s just because the vaccine supply is limited and we assume a level of immunity for a few months after that the rec exists at all.

                              • And I was the same. Achy, some fever, a bit of early diarrhea...felt like I had a hangover, which I probably did anyway. Nothing I couldn’t handle.
