  • Morphy, with almost no resources for theory or openings no real communication with other GMs, did some really amazing things.

    • Yeah, that’s what’s pretty amazing. His games are also fun to look at because they’re not 2021 engine openings.

              • This won’t last, but it’s nice to look at before the collapse leading to a NIT bid:

                    • Is any team worth a shit in the SEC this year? Seems like there are a ton of non-conference losses for that league.

                      • I think Tennessee and LSU are good. Alabama is decent. Auburn got Sharife back and he is a difference maker. South Carolina could have been decent but have missed a ton of games due to Covid.

Right now, the rest seem meh to bad.

Don't have to pay him his buyout package if he's fired for "just cause"...

And I hear Phat Phil is "retiring" too

                            • Right. It’s horseshit to keep from paying the buyout. And really, they expect to pay something, but they hope to reduce it in mediation.

                              • The chancellor's termination letter to Pruitt sure seems to be trying to lay the groundwork for not paying him another nickel. I'd agree that some sort of settlement is likely, but you don't normally see a university basically admit to failure to monitor and failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance. I'm guessing there's more to this.
