I am thrilled they didn’t hire Freeze. Downright giddy. I am also happy they didn’t hire Napier. This also-ran will soon be assimilated.

Harsin is an underwhelming hire, IMO. I can't imagine this is who they had their eye on when they ate the $25M they owe Gus. Or maybe they just wanted Gus out that bad. But, shit, man, even Texas had a plan -- we'll eat dick on the buyout IF we get our guy. If we don't then, we eat what Herman serves us and hope it ain't another bowl of dick.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Breaks my heart about Dan Mullen getting a little love tap from the NCAA. Breaks my heart. Especially when Ohio State is battling Florida for a top 10 overall CB. Just wanna sob uncontrollably. Why can't the Crocs ever catch a break?Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

He's literally a dude born and raised in Boise. He was given the keys to the MWC's premier program and mostly kept it there, but they've slipped a little. Chris Peterson built that thing into what it was (some credit to Hawkins, but mostly to CP).
I guess he's an OC-guy, so maybe that's a plus. But, then again, so was Gus. And, yeah -- recruiting for Boise is entirely different than recruiting for Auburn. You're not competing against mid-level P12 schools for kids anymore. It's a completely different battle -- and if you trot out mid-level P12 talent you get gorged. Side note -- I think this recruiting take applies to HARBAUGH!!!! and Stanford ==> M.
In any event, it's a roll of the dice. Hey, Ohio State got by with Tressel and it seems like CRD can probably coach -- although, we'll really know what he can do when we see his 21/22 teams. So, maybe the Auburn folks found their guy. But, man....The Nick ain't skeered of this bullshit, that's for damn sure.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

As a side note, I think Peterson should go back to Boise and close out his career there. It'd be good for CFB.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Genius idea.
For every 5 star prospect a program signs, they lose two future scholarships.
For every 4 star prospect a program signs, they lose one future scholarship.
3 stars or lower. Don’t lose any scholarships.
NCAA makes a deal with 247 to compile that data. Crack down on the boring monopoly programs that make college football a flawed sport.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

A better idea is this: if you can’t sign a class with a score of 275 or better at least once out of every 4 years, you are relegated to D1aa. Once there, if you fail to recruit a class of 200 or better once outta every 4 years, you are sent to DII. Failure to recruit properly in DII and you are given a choice of DIII or NAIA. Failure to maintain standards there and you’re stuck with intramural flag football where you belong. There needs to be some serious punishments for schools who fail to recruit - because THEY are responsible for the lack of parity, not the hardworking, salt-of-the-earth teams who are busy carrying the flag for all the things right in American Exceptionalism."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

Create a super conference of 32 teams in 4 - 8 team regional divisions. The top 32 teams, based on their w/l record for 4 years, go into those 8 regional divisions. Every 4 years, the bottom two teams in each division, based on wins and losses, are dropped, and the next best 8 teams, move up. Those 4 divisions are the only teams that are allowed into the playoffs. So, if you want to make the playoffs, you need to get into one of the 4 divisions, based on wins and losses.
Playoffs could be made up of the top 2 (eight total teams) or the top 4 (16 playoff teams) from each region, with the first two rounds held regionally by the top 2 seeds.
