    • Speaking of M Swagger, Mr. Alabam"Alum," can you provide a quick update as to the status of Dr. "Leaders" and "Best"? Has he suffered complete and total resignation yet?
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
      Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Not much to talk about. He explained that the season doesn’t count because of Covid; won’t discuss it.

        • It counts ...... believe me. You can tell your Dr. "Leaders and Best" that it does and an M alum with more time watching M football than he probably has knows you can't hide from it.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

            • BTW, no one has noted or commented: I've participated in a long tradition that started probably before the Schembechler years at M but definitely made more real because there actually was a legit feud between Bo and Woody that started in 1969 - my Junior year at M and extended to Woody's death in 1987. Both fans, coaches and players made it a point to disregard and denigrate the other side. For years, I never said Ohio State and if I wrote about it or it's fans I never capitalized the referent words. They remained lower case as a sign of disrespect. After Woody's death, and in deference to the great football mind and coach that he was, I started capitalizing his name only, continuing to not capitalize anything else. After M's MSU loss this season, I started capitalizing anything that had to do with osu - as a sign of respect and capitulation - an end to a previously really great rivalry that Jim Harbaugh has absolutely failed to restore.

I spoke of this here as "sullying Bo Schembechler's legacy." Bo was an important figure in my life. So was my time at M formative. My experience there was one of toughing things out and Bo was my champion of that approach. During my service years that included combat operations, Schembechler was the code word I would have used to authenticate that I wasn't a Gomer trying to lure a helicopter into an ambush. If I ever got shot down and ejected safely, evaded bad guys who almost always came looking for downed pilots and then was lucky enough to have the "Jolly Green Giants (USAF HH53s) that did this, come and hoist my ass out of the jungle, it was Schembechler's name I'd use over the secure radios we had to let them know I was a good guy.

So, the once important rivalry between M and OSU that featured some great coaches and tough players over the years is gone for me. I consider Jim Harbaugh mostly responsible for extinguishing the importance of the symbolism in my life of championship Michigan football, of trying your hardest, doing your best and working as a team. There's no sense in not recognizing the shameful reality that OSU has replaced M as leaders and Best, Champions of the West for me.

                • Also, with the win Saturday, Saban passed Lou Holtz and the great Jimmye Laycock in wins.

                        • Agree with Mike. Its never going to approach the Schembechler years again. Too much damage has been done, and the gap is too great to overcome. The athletes needed to get back to that status never consider Michigan anymore. And even if they did, Michigan doesn't have the leadership to guide them to the promised land.

                          • You see, I get the doom and despair, but you must remember I lived through the Dubose-Shula years and thought that anything remotely approaching the Bryant years was completely impossible. And, well, it wasn't. Because as good as Paul Bryant was, Saban is statistically better. So, keep the faith. You guys are just one satellite camp away. Trust me.
