  • Eh, I set a trap and he’s in it. I’ll trade off light bishops and then queens (he’ll have to take with his king), and then I have pawn move that traps his knight. A quick queenside castle and both rooks will be active and I’ll be up N for a pawn.

I’ll upload two poisons. This was position where I opted for g4. And the second is where I went with g5.

        • I didn’t like g5. That felt early. But I took his N with my Q. He pushed E pawn to my queen. I checked. He blocked with bishop (as I expected, he’s aggressively stupid). That blocked only safe square for N. I followed with Bb5. His move was obviously a6, but he move his N to g4, where it’s trapped.

          • Anyway, it was my first time playing that line (g4), and it was a little out of sorts.

              • You’re better. Much. And with queens off the board, you really don’t need to castle. Esp. a piece up.

                • My view on castling was that I see a middle/end game on the queenside and I wanted my king there.

In any event, I’m playing better. Playing more conceptually than before. Still patzer, but better than a lot of other patzers!

                  • I don’t know about a queenside endgame. Kingside has more pawns, and besides that I usually get my king to the center in the late middle.

But it doesn’t matter this game. It’s all academic.

                        • Chess is pure Columbian powder for the cerebrum. It’s addictive as hell. As you may remember my early plans were to make a profession out of it. That was until I won the 1st place expert prize of a decent-sized tourney and took home $34 after expenses.

You are pretty decent. 1600ish. You still doing chess with friends? Or back on chess.com? If so, what’s your ELO up to?

                          • I play some on Chess w/ Friends. I play the computer on chess.com. I play my family members on some other chess app.

CwF ELO is still very low because that's where I logged on loss after another to you. I had two wins "corrupted" over there. I think I'm like 2-7-3 (2-1-3 against Non-Alabamaniacs).

Chess.com I don't play much. Those games are all 10/30minute and that's not my strength. I'm 13-8 and 1200. Meh. I do play the computer on chess.com at least once a game. I'm playing level 7/8. Against 7, I win, against 8 it's tough. But, I like being able to see the engine evaluation.

My family members range from ok to not good. So, I'm 15-0 or something -- unlikely to ever lose on that app. They are challenging in their openings in that there is almost nothing by the book. Heh. Unlike playing you, however, where you like to get me off book so you can thrash me, these nincimpoops usually end up proper fucked in their positon by move 10.
