Yet, M continues to lose their big games. The stuff on Uche, Hudson, Patterson and DPJ at the combine adds to the continuing evidence that the M football program puts talent on the field, utilizes it poorly and under-performs.
All of these players were the kind that could produce big plays during their college careers - DPJ and Patterson standing out as never really doing that. Is it the coaching staff that couldn't put them in positions to succeed? Injuries?
Patterson took a lot of heat at a key position that contributes to success in big games. If he gets drafted and then does well in the NFL - not a sure thing as of right now - the evidence will be overwhelming that Harbaugh isn't the answer if M football wants championships.
It's hard to not read something into Gattis's twitter post about him noting DPJ with a "healthy off-season" as the reason he seems to be standing out at the combine. Why is he healthy now but, if Gattis is correct about DJ's poor health, he didn't have a healthy season or off-season to get heathy/rehab in the 3 years he was on campus? Suddenly he's well? Puzzling.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. Both Shea and DPJ are victims of the offensive coordinator transition. Shea was awful at the beginning of the season till he figured things out and the coaching staff coached around his deficiencies that he couldn't run the read option. DPJ we were worried would miss a large chunk of the '19 season so I'd assume he had very few reps in Gattis' offense. Ronnie Bell generally outplayed him and gave way more effort as a blocker, that could've been different in didn't miss the entire '19 off season...
Coaching staff utilized Uche very well, he was a pass rush specialist and excelled in that role for M. He'll continue that role in the NFL. Hudson I thought was terrific when he followed his instincts and was able to just react, but was mistake prone otherwise opening up the defense for large chunk plays when he was out of position...
??????I'm not targeting Hudson the defense issues but when you've 4-5 players making mistakes like that, the defense was going to have bad days.
