  • Talent,

My book is retiring after bowls. I am grieved. Like losing a member of my family.

Anyway, you have used 5Dimes, iirc. Do you still? Any issues?

      • I used 5Dimes for awhile, but I honestly have online bet in awhile. Years. They were respectable. Not terrible to get your money from. And, of course, there is the legend of 5Dimes Tony. Everyone serious bettor from the 2005-18 has a Tony story. Or most do.

In any event, it's a nice set-up and the juice is really good. I think they have a reduced juice set up option that takes you down to 5% vig.

        • Thank you, sir.

          I need a 5Dimes Tony story.

          • Well, he was kidnapped and murdered in Costa Rica in 2019. He was renowned for his passive aggressive interrogation. They used to post HSFB games if they were on TV. Fox Sports in Ohio used to show them, and we would bet the fuck out of those games (very low limit bets -- $50, I think). We could move the line 10-14 points. Anyway, one night Willoughby South is playing Eastlake North and the line is almost a pick. WS has Kareem Hunt. I know, for a fact, that WS is going to decimate EN. So, we just start hammering the game. By kickoff it's up to 21. However, 5D has the kickoff time listed an hour late. So, as Kareem Hunt is scoring 1 TD after another, we keep betting (at halftime it was like 49-0).

Then we all get the infamous account locked and have to enter a chat room with Tony.

Why do you think you're here?
            I dunno.
            Is that really your answer?
            Uh, yes.
What do you think you did wrong?
            Why don't you tell me?
            Why don't you tell me?

This would go on for awhile until...like interminably long. Quite the song and dance. Ultimately, he voided all bets -- including the properly placed bets. Fucker.

Search 5Dimes Tony -- there's a few really good articles out there. He was a gambling savant with a great vision for overseas wagering ... and a total asshole. Heh.

              • Kidnapped in January. Body found in September. His story would be a fantastic documentary.

Great interview with insight into how they set lines: https://www.sportsbookreview.com/spo...rviews/5dimes/

I'm always bothered by the notion that they just want 50/50 or whatever. Here's a great answer from Tony:

                      • And, let me say, I never placed a wager with him. Ever. I do not believe in gambling. And I do not know the guy. I have never met him. I do not know if he even exists. I just heard this story told by some guy at a bar. A guy at a bar who I do not know and never got his name.

                        • As an aside, Sportsbook Review is a good resource for online sites. They also have a forum. I'm sure if you searched "Tony" you could find multiple cases of prickery.

                          I preferrred 5D to Bookmaker.

                              • You know I do not gamble but, hypothetically, over the past 14 years if I had gambled and kept an excel file, I think that excel file would show $27,237 in winnings and $23,378 in losses for a net of +$3,859 which would be an annual average profit of $275.64 over those years - which would be kinda hilarious considering how much time I would have hypothetically spent on it. Hypothetically.
