Every OC on our sched is adding drags, square-ins and TE slants to their gameplans now. I know I would be going after true freshmen.

If you look at Bama's situation of losing these players and ask yourself, "Can we replace these guys and still have a season that many fans across the nation would call good?", then the answer is an unequivocal "yes".
If you look at this situation and ask yourself, "Did Bama's chances of getting to another CFB championship game just take a huge hit?", then the answer, again, is another unequivocal "yes".
It all depends on your perspective. And because of that my comments to you and froot were not fair. You and froot are looking at it through the lens that a 10-3 season and a rousing Gator Bowl win is a "good" year. A fair analogy is this: some dirt poor hilljack in the U.P. might look at a mayo sandwich as a good lunch while you and froot would consider it a solid step down from the #3 Arby's combo you normally enjoy while you haughtily lord your wealth over the poors."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

Having knowledge of football allows you to make informed commentary on, well, football.
Caterwauling? Nah. Just discussing Alabama football on a thread primarily devoted to Alabama football discussions.
This team had an excellent chance at another championship. Now, that we're starting 4 true freshmen (5, if you count the kicker), those chances have been downgraded to just decent. Regardless, we will still be one of the 5 or 6 best teams in the country. Being top 6, however, is not a goal for us."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

Rankings and This Week in the SEC:
1. Alabama: W, 42-3 vs Duke. A whole lotta talent wears out a little talent 11 outta 10 times.
2. Georgia: W, 30-6 @ Vandy. See above.
3. LSU: W, 55-3 vs Georgia Southern. See above. Said Coach O, "Well, rhfuhddth, hhjdfgnjt, fwsghioh, GO TIGAHS!"
4. Auburn: W, 27-21 vs Oregon. Despite my best efforts to "thumb" them, they won a game they shoulda lost.
5. Florida: W, 24-20 vs Miami. They didn't look good, but they won. This is a meh team as long as Franks is clueless.
5. Texas A&M: W, 41-7 vs Texas State. See comments on 1, 2, and 3.
7. Kentucky: W, 38-24 vs Tulsa. Giant struggle bus win. Not a great sign.
7. MissState: W, 38-28 vs U.La-La. Yikes, they looked like shit. I know, I know, they had 7 starters suspended. But still.
9. Arkansas: W, 20-13 vs Portland State. Yikes, they looked like shit. And they don't have suspensions to blame. Shitbag team.
10. Mizzou: L, 31-37 @ Wyoming. Lead 14-0. Then just fell to pieces. Who schedules a first game AT Wyoming (Elevation, 7,165 ft) unless you have to? And no P5 school has to. Idiots. Still no excuse. Shitbag team.
11. South Carolina: L, 20-24 @ North Carolina. Lead 20-9 going into the 4th quarter. Fell to pieces. No elevation to blame. Idiots. Shitbag team.
12. Vanderbilt: L, 6-30 vs Georgia. Played tough for a bit. Worn down. Shitbag team.
13. Ole Miss: L, 10-15 @ Memphis. Tough game to open with for them, but make no mistake, they looked like dogshit.
14. Tennessee: L, 30-38 vs Georgia State. Bwahahahaha...Mega, turbo dogshit team.
Overall, the top 6 or 7 performed about as expected, the bottom 7 or 8 looked much worse than expected. Early take: the SEC's depth just isn't there this year. Or so it appears after game 1.
Next games:
1. Bama vs New Mexico State
2. Georgia vs Murray State
3. LSU @ Texas
4. Auburn vs Tulane
5. Florida vs UT-Martin
5. TAMU @ Clemson
7. Kentucky vs Eastern Michigan
7. MissState vs SoMiss
9. Arkansas vs Ole Miss
10. Misery vs West Virginia
11. South Carolina vs Charleston So.
12. Vandy @ Purdue
13. Ole Miss @ Arkansas
14. Tennessee vs BYU
