Bama's likely to be the first program to win two national titles without even winning its conference...or division! IT JUST MEANS MORE
Ahh, 2011 (or why we now have a playoff).
That was a fun year. Bama missed 5 FGs and lost 9-6 to LSU in overtime. That left undefeated Okla State, Stanford, and maybe even undefeated Boise as teams that could get the nod.
The next week, Stanford lost by 23 to Oregon and Boise lost to TCU. This left Okla State and maybe 1-loss Oregon as the heir apparent.
So, of course, the next week, Oregon lost to USC and Okla State lost to Iowa State.
I don't believe in god(s) but that year made me think he existed and he wore crimson.

I didn't think we would. Even though we only had one loss, it was a late loss.
LOL... bama is in as long as they have only one loss. Doesn't matter when or how... or who they even beat, they are in. There are rules and their are exceptions. Bama has the exception. Wisconsin would not be in the playoff if they had Bama's resume and timing of the loss.
Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.
Every college football fan base cares about what people say about them. If Tide followers didn't care about it they wouldn't be responding to correct accusations about how they have gamed the system.
If you win the title, it doesn't matter. Ifyou hold sway with the Southern Crooks who run college football, that doesn't show up in the record books. But it does cement how much better pro football is.

1977. 1-loss Bama ranked #2 entering the bowls. We beat Ohio State 35-6. The #1, #3, and #4 teams lost. The #5 team lept to #1 for the championship.
Football gods are just trying to make up for that miscarriage of justice.

If you are a warm weather team in the AFC, you can't avoid playing at Pittsburgh or New England in the winter to play Mercer. Alabama never has to worry about that.
The football gods gifted UAT NCs in 1964 and, most outrageously, 1973 and then immediately following 1977, gifted a 1-loss UAT team the NC over a 1-loss USC team that beat Alabama by 10 in ALABAMA.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

That USC team lost to Arizona State by two TDs the next month. Incidentally, that's when the playoff talk really started. Coach Bryant was a fan of a playoff and tried to make something happen that year.
