5 conference winners and 1 at-large. Magnify the value of earning # 1 and 2 by giving them a bye.

Exactly.
Then play 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5 at the home field of the higher ranked team.
It gives the top four the best shot, you don't have to worry about filling stadiums and travel burn out for the fans and it keeps the present bowls intact.
(at large should be a team from a conference that doesn't have a team in the top 5 or independent)
I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
They don't need 6 teams, they need to pay more than lip service that conference championships are worth something. They are worth something as long as Alabama or Ohio State is a conference champ.
Oh, I'm fine. I'm now outraged by the exclusion of Ohio State in 2015. But, we all know The Nick shits golden horseshoes.
What's fucking hilarious is that Holcutt last week: "Very little separation between teams 5 and 8." This week, Alabama is unequivocally better after OSU beat a team that the CFP had ranked ahead of Alabama and finished ranked 6.
Just wow. Oh well.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
