The ones from the South that are readily available in the Midwest (Sweetwater, Shiner (lol), Abita, etc.) tend to be mediocre or suck.

I haven't had a lot a lot but Highland out of Asheville, NC seemed to be ok.

      Here's what I say:

I have seen dirt poor people in Appalachia and rural areas who didn't have shoes or good teeth. Or enough food to eat, for that matter. Kids going to bed hungry, no medicine or healthcare when sick. Just heartbreaking. Not really with-it enough to work the system and no one who cares enough to help them. This kind of poverty is a lot of things. Funny? Well, that's not one of those things.

I was helping some of these people outside of a town called Gee's Bend years ago. A little girl named Mae. Rotten teeth, dirty clothes, barefoot (HAHAHA!) and dying of leukemia. Her dad lost his job when the coal mine closed. Sold his blood, collected aluminum cans off the roadways, and did odd jobs to make ends meet. It was a meager living, if you can really call it living, that is.

Anyway, we got the girl to Chidren's Hospital in Birmingham. She was so self-conscious of being poor, and wearing tattered clothes, and going to "the city" where people would laugh at her, that we stopped and got her a dress and some shoes on the way. It made her happy. Treatment wasn't in time, though. I would visit her when I could at her foster family. She missed her mom and dad but they just couldn't take care of her. It was a hard decision, but looking back, I think it made things worse. She kept asking if I would make sure she was buried in her "pretty dress" I bought her when she died. Local Rotary got her a casket and a head stone.

So, you sit there on your naugahyde lazee-boy and you keep yucking it up over the mind-searing agony that real poverty doles out to those less fortunate, and I will continue to take you to task for your mean-spirited horseshit, you mouth-breathing fucktard.

        • I think it was the LA Times that won a pulitzer writing about Gee's Bend. But hey - you have participatory politics there too. Make your bed, then sleep in it.

          • Canada's gotten somewhat better on the beer scene, but it will never be cheap. That said, craft brewing is out of control here. There are far more breweries than there are talented brewers. On the ale side, I stick mostly with the ones I know. For lagers, if I can buy something from Munich for the same price then that's a better choice every time, save for Brooklyn Lager. Even then, $6 for 6 Yuengeling is the way to go. That's a solid lager. Isn't overthinking things.

It is certainly clear what buttons pushes AA.. talk about taking things out of context.

              • Gee's Bend is an interesting town. Made famous by the elderly black ladies who make quilts that are showcased in museums and art galleries. Its main residents are descended from slaves. They stayed around after the Civil War and ended up owning the place.

Anyway, I made all that shit up. Heh. Boredom is the mind-killer.

                      • Clemson will have the best player on the field. Alabama will have 9 of the next 10 best players. Actually, Williams and Wilkins are legit, too.

Clemson won't be able to run the ball. They're not good enough on the OL. I think Alabama can stop them with 6 in the box giving The Nick the opportunity to clamp down on the passing game like he did against Washington. Clemson is way better offensively, though, so they'll get some points.

I don't think Alabama can just line up and run the ball on Clemson, but they can definitely hit some passes. I think Venables would prefer to approach it like he did against OSU -- letting his DL control shit and sitting back in coverage with 7. But, I think he'll have to commit some resources to stop the run and that will open up opportunities for Hurts. If he's good then Alabama eases home to 10 point win. If he doesn't make the throws, they'll lose.

Haven't made my mind up, yet.

And, Talent, honestly, I think Jonathan Allen is in the convo for the best player. I know a d-lineman doesn't get love, but he's that dominant.
