      • Pat Forde on BTN yesterday when asked if Harbaugh was on schedule or ahead of schedule said he was ahead of schedule. He then said, "From 5 and 7 to number 2 in the country in 20 games!" Wow! So true...

          • Saban doesn't care. I don't either, for that matter. I like the device, though.

              I have no idea why.

                    • The ESPN FEI rankings are out; after week #9, M remains at #1 leading Alabama by 0.02.

                      Heh. ......

Team efficiencies are based on the point contributions of each unit to the team's scoring margin, on a per-play basis. The values are adjusted for strength of schedule and down-weighted for "garbage time" (based on win probability). The scale goes from 0 to 100; higher numbers are better and the average is roughly 50 for all categories. Efficiencies update dilly during the season and this far in they are a good measure of how good one team is in comparison to another.

M is ahead of Alabama because their FEI rank for offense is higher than Bama's. I'd agree with that from an eyeball view and I've only watched two of Bama's wins so, not great in comparing, Bob. I doubt M is going to hold on to that top spot if the top two win out given the remaining games for both teams with Alabama's schedule being the harder of the two ..... That last statement is going to be open to discussion based on how you view and measure the strength of future opponents for each team.

IMO, bringing in a mobile QB and running some RPO plays, like The Nick has done at Alabama, seems to represent leading edge thinking in College ball. Clearly, it's a tough offense to defend when it's run well at the elite level. I can't say I really can judge the Alabama offense overall like I can M's. But there is no question Alabama's D is terrifying. I've seen enough of that to know.

Anyway, osu dropped out of the top 5 as a result of their weak offensive and defensive performances against nFw. The numbers say M is going to win out but this is CFB. I'll believe that one game at a time and after the final second of each of M's remaining games ticks off. Keep in mind that Hanni was exactly right. Even though the numbers predicted M would beat MSU by some obscene number, they only won by 11 making those of us and the rest of the CFB world who predicted a big win blithering idiots.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Not quite right. Hanni was closer to the final result than I was, but Hanni predicted a one possession (field goal) game, and that was not right. Michigan won by 9, but had a 3 score lead until the final few minutes.

Harbaugh won the day v Dantonio on the 2 point conversion attempt. Year of Harbaugh confirmed.

                          • AlabamAlum-- You are correct. I quoted Jeff Buchanan, but it was shown with your name. Software glitch, I guess. But you are right, and I apologize for the misattribution (in case it was actually my mistake).

                            • It's okay. But confusing me with Jeff is quite the insult, whether from you or the software. I need scotch now.
