      • LOTTA smoke out there that Speight is legitimately gonna win the job. Doesn't make a difference to me, but still interesting.

        • Yeah that has been the buzz for a while. That probably says more about O'Korn than it says about Speight, unfortunately.

          • Speight is the replica of John Navarre.

It's hard to tell from the little we've seen of him but he's a pocket passer ..... Period. Not that this is necessarily bad but an offense using that kind of QB presents less of a problem to defenses who otherwise might have to face a mobile QB like O'Korn who has the capacity to run option plays or scramble out of trouble.

It changes the look of a back side defense facing a guy like Speight compared to O'Korn. But, hey, Harbaugh made Stanford's offense look pretty impressive with Luck who had then and has now, no capacity to be a run threat.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

            • From what I have seen, he doesn't have Navarre's arm strength. And judging by his 7 for 25 competion rate last year, his accuracy eitehr.

              • Speight is more mobile than Navarre.

I'm not worried at all about the position. If it's Speight, that means he won it.

And this part makes zero sense. Luck is really mobile.

                  • I think both Speight and O'Korn will play vs Hawaii.

                    • John Navarre was the most mentally tough QB we've had in a long, long time. Its too bad he had cinder blocks for feet.

                      • Too bad he got put into the job too early or else most people would have a better opinion of him.

Being mobile and being a run threat are two different things.

osu's jt barrett is a run threat because he threatens the edge of a defense and ufm has option plays in osu's playbook to take advantage of that.

It's that capability that makes the back side of a defense facing that kind of QB have to respect that.

Luck has escapability, if that's what you mean by being mobile. Will Speight? Both of those guys are big dudes so probably.

Now I'm just confused as what you're trying to say. You said above running an offense with no run threat(Luck as the example) vs Okorn and then you bring up Barrett who could run a read option offense if he had to. Luck is just as mobile as O'Korn, more mobile than Rudock who ran the offense last year and not really comparable to Barrett. Luck is escapable and mobile.
