  • Like everyone else, I was very excited about Henson, and glad when Carr gave him a chance to split time with Brady. But as the season wore on, the contrast became ludicrous, as Brady was clearly much better.

Hard to say about Guterriez, since we never got see him play college ball. And it was exciting to have Henne as a recruit and promising young starter.

But looking back, the QBs in the old system were consistently awesome. Michigan was QB U. John Navarre, who seemed promising at the start, was a disappointment, in my opinion. It seems like the system when awry after the superrecruits Henson and Henne.

    • Yeah, Henne to Sheridan can scar a man for life.

I'm confused by this. Navarre was terrible at the start and ended up being pretty damn good his senior year. And Navarre was in between Henson and Henne, so where did the system supposedly go awry?

        • Navarre was alright, he just wasn't ready his sophomore year to start. As a Jr./Sr. he was good enough at the college level but never saw him as a likely NFL talent given his accuracy issues.

Should have been Henne to Mallett if Rich Rodriguez (or a spread offense coach) wasn't hired.

But yes... I was at that Utah at Michigan Nick Sheridan opener. What a terrible QB. Steven Threet had a moment (vs Wisconsin) at least.

He was definitely going to be top 10 certainly no worse than top 15 in the NFL draft. That is, barring injuries. Biggest problem I have with him is that he went back on his promise to Lloyd Carr and went and played baseball instead of finishing his football career.
I think maybe being hurt during his junior year also played into his decision.

                    • Maybe a bit of good news.

Michigan quarterback John O’Korn has not yet won the starting job for the fall, but he was co-champion of the Quarterback Challenge at the Manning Passing Academy on Saturday.

                      • I wonder how he'd have done in that Camp without having JH around?

Is he just a natural talent or just has the tools that have been refined by another great QB coaching him?
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I'm hoping its a bit of both, Jeff.

Maybe this will help sort out the QB situation going into fall camp.

                          • Dytarious Johnson LB won't make it to M, they likely won't replace him...

Brad Hawkins has admission issues that need to be taken care of, likely a fall enrollee instead of a summer.
