Chris Weinke didn't play football for 6 or 7 years.

i know FSU is dirty, but I don't think they are pros.

Mike Williams took off a year and look at how well that turned out.

              • I didn't say it was the exact same situation but you were playing up the time between. Weinke nearly doubled the time throwing a football. Does that not matter?

I personally didn't see it with Henson, apparently you guys did. I've heard the story so much and it never really changes, Stenbrenner was a Buckeye and he conspired to screw over Michigan. That narrative completely overlooks the fact that Henson was never all in on football, he was available, he never gave up baseball.

For me to make it in the NFL as a QB, you need talent and you need to be all in. He never was, Tom Brady is successful in large part because he is all about football. The dude can't take vacations without throwing the football.

                    • It matters because it is much easier to be worth a damn in college than the pros. Especially when you are a grown ass man playing against teenagers.

And further, it doesn't matter what any of us thought, the question is whether he would have been drafted high or not. I think the fact that he played for three NFL teams after having not played for years is pretty telling. As is the fact that his stats were better than Joey and he would have been a hometown boy. There is almost no chance he would not have been drafted by the Lions and ruined.

                      • Man, can you imagine Henson throwing to Germain Crowell? Those would have been THE TIMES!!!!

                        • Henson could've convinced Barry to come out of retirement.

                          • We wouldn't have needed Barry with Henson at the helm!

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

                            • The whole Henne / Gutierrez thing was strange. Carr's fetish with hotshot QB prospects as opposed to bringing QBs along as understudies and getting their shots as Juniors and Seniors was, in retrospect, a disaster.

Todd Collins was a favorite QB of mine, and Brain Griese wasn't bad either.

                              • What I hated about the Henne/Gutierrez thing, was that Gutz was never given an opportunity to win the job back after his injury. Carr planted Henne in the job, and left him there. Even during times when Henne was struggling, and probably needed to be lifted, Carr stuck with him, rather than giving Gutz a chance to play.

This especially flies in the face of what he did with Henson/Brady. Carr seemingly was looking for excuses to bring in Henson in relief of Brady, when Brady was clearly the best QB on the roster. Yet he would NEVER relieve Henne when he actually struggled, to give Gutz a shot.

I don't miss Lloyd anymore. I like the man, but I don't miss him.
